Buffalo isn't paying a second to move from Asplund to Compher. Asplund was a Selke Candadite last year.

Buffalo wouldn't be the ones adding in that swap

this is not an opening line up at all, avs arent making moves and neither are the sabres,

Carrying 3 goalies? Why? Justus and Ranta are already sent down to the Eagles and Landeskog Helm both wont start the season.

Lol
That’s gonna be a “no” from the Sabres

Similar players (decent defensive forwards),
but Asplund is cheaper & Compher might not be an upgrade at all- so giving up the 2nd + Asplund to get him makes little sense for us

I don’t think we’d even do a straight ip swap of Compher for Asplund

Sabres decline with extreme prejudice. Asplund is younger, an RFA, and being paid >1M. The 2nd is just insult to injury, trading Compher would likely leave us with a 4th, maybe a 3rd, but there's no way he gets a 2nd.

The Sabres decline. I would however like to politely ask that asplund not be referred to as a selke candidate. He finished like 19th in voting. He is a good defensive forward, and we can certainly use him, but his offense is never going to get him close to winning it. The guys that win tend to be almost point-per-game players like Bergeron and O'Reilly.

The proper assessment is he received a Selke vote last season. He is still more valuable to Buffalo than Compher would be. Of course you weren’t arguing that point.
