Rebuild

Description
If the Vancouver Canucks miss the playoffs I think it is time to go into a 2-3 year rebuild phase. This will include needing good prospect and player development plan, letting our stars use that time to build their games, still trying to be a team thats hard to play every night.
Step one is establishing our core for the future.
Elias petterson
Quinn Hughes
Thatcher Demko
J.T Miller
Those are the four guys I am going to build this team around.
Next we trade Bo Horvat for a first and Korchinski. This gives chicago a base to build their new team upon and a Captain for when Toews leaves. Canucks get a late first but a insane d prospect.
The Canucks give Miller, petterson, Hughes, and myers all an A and then name the new Captain ahead of the 23-24 season.
Management stays the same unless a change benefits the team.
We give a big contract to Milan Lucic to play bottom six and it keeps us above the cap floor.
We don't try and tank for bedard but im thinking we get bottom ten in the league. If Miller isn't happy going into a rebuild then he may waive his NMC. We send him, all three firsts ( Unless its top 3), amd a sweetner to get 1st overall and get Bedard.
This is a stretch but this is what I would do if they miss playoffs this year.
This may seem like NHL 23 franchise mode but it will work.

Given their current state, I can't see the Hawks trading a young, recent top-10 pick defenseman & a 1st Round Pick away. Not commenting on the value of the trade overall, but I just don't see Chicago being the team to pull the trigger on a deal like this. They're going to be trying to acquire more picks & prospects, not trade them away.

Leafs easily say no, you're not getting a first for a healthy search. Canucks are desperate, Canucks will have to pay up and take on cap dumps to move Garland

Garland has positive value no one can tell me otherwise. he is still a top 6 winger under a good contract.

Not sure what's more unlikely. Chicago trades #7 OA, who you say is an insane prospect, and a 1st in the 2023 draft or Horvat signs with a team that is 3-4 years away from being a good team.

Miller not wanting to be in a rebuild gets traded to the worst team in the league.

Healthy scratches doesn't get a first, he has no value after that move. Leafs have no reason to take that contract without a sweetener

Florida doesn't have the cap space for $6,650,000 per Brock Boeser. It would need to be salary in and salary out.

And why would Bo Horvat want to knowingly sign with a rebuilding team. No way is Horvat signing with a Hawks team that is going to be years away from playoff contention.

Fair but after being a healthy scratch it’s a-lot harder to justify a 1st +If Canucks are in a rebuild it’s a whole new probelm

LMAO...Chicago announces a rebuild this offseason and we are just going to abandon it and cater to Vancouver because they decide to rebuild? O.K.

Genuine question: Why tf would Chicago do that?

There's no way that the team with 1st overall is going to take Miller+3 1sts for it.

Edit: Well maybe if one of those picks is a top 5 pick, but Vancouver wouldn't be making that trade if it were.

Garland would be your 3rd best winger behind Marner and Nylander

I game as a scratch doesn’t turn a top 6 player into a cap dump. Would be the best contract on the Leafs

Yeah the Leafs should 100% be all over that. The value is fantastic for us, to be honest you could easily get more for Garland
