A cooked #4 defensemen that's about to be a UFA, a AHL player, and a late 2nd for Garland? I wish. Would probably be 1st+Poulin.

Once you traded Marino you lost your chance at Garland

The Garland trade is a royal joke for Vancouver, Archibald and pending UFA in Dumoulin and a 2nd round pick for Conor Garland. Talk about a pathetic and worthless trade for a guy with 4 years left. After you dealt Marino you lost any leverage in obtaining Conor Garland.

Yes because a player making 5M who was 29th in 5v5 points last season, above players such as Rantanen, Conner, Pastrnak, B Tkachuk, Nylander, Zibanejad, and Tavares has a terrible contract. He also had more 5v5 points/60 than McDavid, Draisaitl, Barkov, J Hughes, Ehlers, Stone, and Guentzel. Such a bad contract though right?

His 17 goals and 47 points at 5v5 last season would have been 2nd on the Pens behind on Guentzel last season. His contact is very very good.

So what you’re saying is that Garland is better than McDavid, Guentzel, Barkov, Draisaitl, Nylander, Pasta, Tkachuk, and well all the other players you mentioned?

Does this trade somehow retroactively help us last season?

Because it means Garland would be one of your best point producers...

I never said that did I. I just pointed out the fact that Garland is an elite 5v5 producer and his contract is actually quite a good one, not a terrible one like you stated

In terms of 5v5 point production, yeah it means he is as effective at 5v5 compared to those players. Calling Garland a player with a terrible contract perfectly demonstrates your lack of hockey knowledge

Riiiigghhhtt. You just said Garland is just as good as McDavid, Barkov, Tkachuk, yet I’m the one that demonstrates a lack of hockey knowledge? Lmao. That’s rich 😂

Again so trading for him now retroactively makes us better last year?

I'm pretty sure acquiring a player who was one of the top 5v5 point producers last season is going to make your team better. Especially when you are getting him for such a low return. Dumoulin has a worse contract than Garland by a long shot

I didn’t claim he was better, I stayed a fact that he produced more/at a better rate at 5V5 than those players. You haven’t given a single point to prove that Garland has a horrible contract, which you can’t because it’s a good value contract

Yeah the defenseman who’s cap hit is less and only 1 year is worse than the almost 5 million dollar forward that might get you 20 goals if he is lucky. And you claim I’m the one who lacks hockey knowledge.

Then why compare them saying he is better than them.

“Yes because a player making 5M who was 29th in 5v5 points last season, above players such as Rantanen, Conner, Pastrnak, B Tkachuk, Nylander, Zibanejad, and Tavares has a terrible contract. He also had more 5v5 points/60 than McDavid, Draisaitl, Barkov, J Hughes, Ehlers, Stone, and Guentzel.“

Your words, not mine. Maybe the oilers should trade McDavid and a pick for Garland since Garland had a better 5v5 points/60 than him last year lol

You have brought 0 evidence to back your claim of Garland having a bad contract. Stop being ignorant. If you’re going to reply, at least have material to backup your argument

No it helps you know and in the future. It gives you are reliable 5v5 scoring threat to add in the middle 6 at a good price and all you lose is a 2nd and a struggling UFA dman.

Him being good last year in 5v5 situations doesn’t help in the future. What is he doing this year? Not much. Almost 5 million to be a 3rd liner who’s only good at 5v5 on a cap strapped team. I’m sure the team could find way more effective ways to use that. Especially for 4 years.
