Montreal should jump on this, but Vancouver really can't afford to trade a defenseman for a winger.

This would be great for MTL of course. Vancouver does this for cap relief?

Canucks have too many wingers and not enough defenseman. Pass

Canucks issue is defensive play no? This seems counterproductive

Canucks do this IF Habs throw in a 2023 first!

I’d like to hear one good reason why Vancouver should do this

Canucks decline. No reason to trade a position of weakness for a position of strength. Hoffman would probably be on our 4th line at best, and only takes away playing time from younger guys like Studnicka or Hoglander. Losing Myers weakens an already weak position. If the Canucks move Myers, it will be with either no cap coming back or a RHD coming back. Yes, this technically saves us $1.5 mil, but then we have to take that $1.5 mil and add another $3-4 mil to pay for a Myers replacement at like $4-5 mil, meaning while this deal technically clears $1.5 mil, we actually clear $6 mil (Myers), but add $4.5 mil (Hoffman) plus $4-5 mil (Myers replacement), meaning we actually add about $3-4 mil in cap.

Just to be clear, I was asking why. I don't think they should or would do this.

Every Habs fans saying yes to that trade forgot how horrible Myers were during the Canadian division.

2 bad contracts. MTL keep the smaller one.
