Alright. Who is gonna bite the bullet and tell this dude Matt Nieto isn’t bringing a cup to Edmonton?

Bonino and Nieto are the two main reasons sharks have had one of, if not the best PK unit over the last 2 years. they put up enough offense to not be liabilities and their shut down D helps win games. these type of players aren’t the reason you get to the cup, but not having players like them will also keep you from the cup! just ask Tampa how important Goodrow was to their runs!

no san jose accepts whole heartedly, add insult to injury if you like the players the sharks could always just resign them in the offseason.

I agree they help! But what I’m saying here is that Edmonton’s real issues go much deeper than 4th line depth. They r a deeply flawed team carried by two superstars.

agreed but they have the offense, what they need is defense and depth like Nieto and Bonino would help but i’ll agree this is a massive overpay.

Why would SJ pass on that?

Arizona lowered their asking price so I don’t think it’s cost that much for Chychrun. They want at least an equivalent of 2 firsts. That’d be for starters but there’d be a bidding war on him I think. Edmonton is among the teams I believe has the best chance at acquiring him if Edmonton decides to make Broberg available .

Well, I suppose they might accept, but my thinking was they'd haggle for a better deal. Between taking Foegele and the retentions, they'd be eating roughly 5M in cap for Edmonton over the next two seasons in addition to supplying the two useful players for a Cup chaser. Then, while it would not be fair to call the two prospects longshots to have any real impact, they're not far from it. Of course, the 23 2nd is an okay piece, but it just seems to me like the Sharks could massage a better deal.

At the very best Nieto and Bonino are worth a 4th round pick each, two prospects, a 2nd and decent bottom sixer seems like a far better deal then they'll get, Idk why Edmonton would do this.

Foegele has negative value at this point, and they'd need him gone to do these deals. Better, cheaper bottom 6ers are a dime a dozen. And those prospects are about C+ level, if that. They could easily become just another few million in real money taken off Edmonton's hands. But who knows? Maybe they bite. I just think it's not the shrewdest deal possible for San Jose.

So the chance to draft a couple C+ level prospects is better then.. lol .. Cause thats likely all they find with the late round picks they might get for those guys.

Orrr instead of two pretty meh prospects they could take one halfway decent one. I'd haggle for better, is all I'm saying.

How To Sewer Edmonton's Future In Two Easy Steps!

The future is now. Many of you don’t seem to understand what winning is and how teams build a culture of winning. We’ve been “rebuilding” for most of the last 30 years. Enough of that.

“Deeply flawed” teams don’t go to the western conference finals. Watch an Oilers game sometime and then tell me it’s only two players.

I watched all four WCF games last year. They didn’t belong there and it showed.
