You guys are on the verge of becoming a true contender and you want to saddle yourself with that awful contract? Stay away

EDIT: My bad. I thought you meant Josh Anderson LOL

Andersen isn't available. If he was, you're looking at this years 1st and more. He was 4th in Vezina voting last year, he's still an incredible goalie when he's healthy. If this is all your wanting to give up for a goalie, maybe Raanta is a better fit.

Andersen not going to be moved. IMO Carolina is running 3 goaltenders and Raanta is the odd-man out but even then, if Andersen gets hurt again it's worth keeping the 3

IF (and I’d say they shouldn’t move him) the Canes moved Freddie, they would NOT get a 1st. He’s still an aged goalie with an injury history who is a pending UFA…

The only move that would be there is a contender who needs a goalie and has depth on defense. Swap Freddie for a Defenseman.

Canes don't have a glaring need for a defenseman, so the best bet right now is futures. If you're getting a package of futures, a goaltender that was snubbed of a Vezina nomination last year should CERTAINLY return a 1st. He's still one of the best netminders in the NHL when he's at his best. You can argue his injuries, sure. He's only 33 which isn't incredibly old for a netminder. You're right he's a pending UFA, but his contract right now is also incredibly team friendly. I can't see a world where he doesn't return a 1st to be honest.

Unfortunately, the world we are currently living in would be one that a return for Freddie wouldn’t include a 1st. I can really only think of one or two contenders who would trade for a goalie today (things can change for sure).

Would the Kings or Oilers trade a 1st for Freddie, or would they use those futures for a different trade? My guess is Freddie would be a hockey trade need for need.

Freddie's most direct comparable for a goalie that was traded recently is Kuemper, Keumper got a 1st +. Freddie is better. Kuemper is only a year younger, and has a similar injury history. Freddie's deal is better than Keumper's was too. I can't see him not returning a 1st.

Kuemper had a year left when he was traded to the Avs, not the same at all. Coyotes also retained $1m.

Kuemper was traded in the summer, so he was in the final year of his deal. Freddie is better than Kuemper. Freddie has a lower cap hit. Yes Arizona retained, but they also got Conor Timmins for that. Freddie should fetch a first

Nothing on the ACGM's on this site matter. We're talking fantasy about a sport for christ sake. This is most of our escapes from reality.
