Trade Murray

Initial Creation Date: Dec. 24, 2022
Published: Dec. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Pens do not resign UFA Jarry for any reason, would they be interested in Murray at 4.7m for one season? Of course the lineup also depends on 5.6m staying on LTIR

I don't think the Pens would be interested and I wouldn't be surprised if Pittsburgh is one of the teams on his 10-team list.

Has he been bad? I haven't watched the Leafs a ton, but I thought he was doing better than expected.

Why do people think knies is going to walk into the NHL as a stud.

When kerfoot was 20 he had 30 pts in 27 NCAA games. Knies has 22 pts in 20 NCAA games at 20 now... Certainly more goals, but still the expectations seem quite out of whack

He's been great and I doubt they want to move him.

I think it's more about his style of play and how it compliments the top 6

No way bunting should get that deal ; more like 5-6 x $3.75-4M imo. Hate for him to go but if he leaves to get that elsewhere we can target replacement FA wingers.
Don’t know why we can’t keep both, but crazy early to be picking one goalie over the other . Let’s see how they each perform down the stretch; in playoffs is where it will really count.

Kerfoot also walked into nhl from college and had a really good rookie year. No guarantee but also no reason Knies couldn’t do same thing (he’d be playing with really good players) . He has the size, shot and as long as he can keep up with pace - certainly worth an extended look.

His speed is one of his strengths. I think he'll handle the pace. I think it's a reasonable expectation that he is a bigger and better Bunting type. Better hands and just more able to enforce his will on Defenceman

If the playoffs started today Murray would be starting game 1. I dont understand this thinking at all

Yeah but what starting goalie returns a 7th round pick?

It's a cap league. Leafs risk losing Bunting or even Samsonov to an offer sheet. Let's not confuse playing value and trade value.

Great so if Samsonov gets offer sheeted he will return more than a 7th

Bunting can walk if he wants more than 5 million too

Yeah Samsonov would get a second rounder in a offer sheet, but Leafs have years of control over Samsonov. Murray just one year

I'm sure the Oilers are willing to throw too much money at him, seems to be their MO these days, throw the bag at Leafs UFAs

That's a terrible return for a goalie that's putting up number 1/all star numbers. I'd expect a 1st and prospect back. And yeah Pittsburgh I'm sure is a place he doesn't want to go.

Murray isn't a UFA. One year left till UFA at 4.65m

One year for a goalie till UFA isn't worth that much. Good UFA goalies are available this summer, who don't cost anythinbg.r
