Verbeek probably isn’t moving Rico basically 50% retained for this

Looks more like a 1st for that

The reason Jeannot is worth so much is because of how unique he is. His skillset is one EVERY team covets and there maybe is 5-10 players in the league like him atm.

Was going back and forward on that. Thinking if there would be a first going to Anaheim, a third would be going back the other way. I personally think he is an underrated tdl acquisition and fits the Leafs needs.

These are 2 extremely bad trades for the Leafs. Why take on 2 years of Henrique even at reduced salary? We have good young players to re-sign in the offseason and that won't make it easier.

Except he doesnt have a unique skill set at all. He's a 25 year old winger with one good goal scoring season because of a shooting percentage bender he hasnt replicated. Hes also really bad defensively.
Just because he throws hits doesn't make him unique at all

I believe he is on the PK, can play both wings, and plays a tough game that translates well to the playoffs. Also you dont think if he can be a third fiddle on the 2nd line, or add a different element on the third line. Yes his sh% has cratered, but he has a game that most fans appreciate.

3rd line crashers who can pk (on a bottom 10 pk in the league no less) are not a unique skill set though, nor are they significantly valuable. He's a decent player, but not near as valuable as people say

Yes, coming from a Preds fan, that is an overpay.

Well, there's a first time for everything, I guess, so it's fitting that we've started a New Year. I've never agreed with @JaredOfLondon on anything before, but I must admit that he's right that you're overpaying for Jeannot by at least the first.

As to Henrique, the basic outline of 50% retention and a current third for a first, as you suggest, is a fair framework for a deal. If you have to include Kerfoot for salary cap reasons, then I would add maybe a fourth on our end and a third on yours, or maybe less.

The reason I put that price, because if I put it too low, I hear NSH declines, you are crazy they will never accept etc. Never works on this site lol.

I always say if I took a time machine to a year from now and wrote down all the trades made... and traveled back to present day and listed them on CFACGM, no one would believe any of the trades.

Jeannot isn't even medium.....He's a fourth liner. Yes he was unique and a bargain last season but reality hits again this season.
Henrique isn't that special. Now some team might trade for him, but seems more of lateral move for this season. Rather just keep Kerfoot, who has been playing well, the other assets and then be cap free next season

Is it really that hard to find a 6'2" 210 pound grinder who hits a lot and doesn't score much? Literally anyone can get lucky and score a bunch of goals with a 21% shooting percentage. It won't last and hasn't for him

His 2 assists on 9 playoff games certainly translates as a non factor in the playoffs.

That's because most NSH fans aren't interested in trading Jeannot in the first place.

Probably because he is a highly skilled and effective player and you're buying cap certainty next season on a top 6 LW, which is apparently what Toronto has been lacking this season.

Not to mention he is one of the best Ducks in the faceoff circle.

Factor in you will not find an equivalent player on the market for that cap hit, and Toronto needs to show some progress in the post season to convince the core 3 players to resign at not absolute price gouging deals.
