Additional Details:
Canes get a consistent goalie who can mentor Koochie and fill in as the starter if Koochie struggles. Since Freddie and Raanta re both unlikely to be returning, just taking a look at UFA goalies will show the Canes options are very limited, with the 2 goalies that might not resign with their respective clubs being Talbot (Ottawa) and Varlamov (NY Islanders). There will likely be a bidding war for Varlamov, and Talbot isn’t exactly the best suited for being a 1A/B goalie. The trade market is a prettier option and Gibson is among those names. He has been able to post above a .900s% ever since the Ducks went into rebuild mode, but his GSAA isn’t exactly the greatest, so the defense isn’t all to blame. Still not the most sure on his value, since my last test of this many people said I was way too high, with a couple people saying I was slightly low. Mainly overpaying for the retention

We don’t need Gibson at all, especially for that price. Just sign another cheaper vet to backup Kooch. Also that’s a hefty, hefty price to pay for a 2C.

Easy no from Calgary. That is a MASSIVE overpay for a guy with 3 goals this year when you're a team that needs goal scoring.

Dube and Teurovainen have basically the same production from a strictly statistical stand point this year.

For Anaheim, the main question about trading John Gibson isn't so much one of value as it is one of strategy. Do the Ducks move Gibby for a return, or do they hang on to him because he still fits their window when it opens a couple of seasons from now?

I don't think that you're getting retention from a team that operates on an internal cap, so take out some of the underbrush on your side.

Massive overpayment for Larkin.

Considering those aren't the pieces it would require to get Larkin. Need at least one of Morrow and Drury in there at the minimum. Even Drury I am not so sure about anymore. Likely swap Heimosalmi for Morrow and then we can talk, I would be okay with taking out the third in that case.

On paper, a 2023 mid-1st along with the other prospects feels like an overpay for Gibson. But it makes no sense for both parties as the Ducks don't have a ready full-time replacement for Gibson while Kochetkov is at the age where he should be #1 and shouldn't have a back-up that expects to be a #1.

And if the Canes doesn't think Kochetkov is ready for the workload, it might make more sense for the Canes to try to snag someone like Copley, Hill or Stolarz.

Oops. I meant money wise. I agree the offer could be better.

No to Gibson. Gibson has very little value and has declined hard over the last 5 years.

If Larkin does an 8 x 8.75-9 million deal then I would be okay with the updates the Red Wings fan asked for and the trade.

Calgary deal is too much from Calgary.

Would be a pretty good lineup for next year. Larkin also provides insurance in case Aho walks for whatever reason.

Ahh yeah that's alot of money for Larkin. I could see him getting north of 9M but i think he gets around what Hintz got.

Dude, Once again you're not getting a sign and trade Dylan Larkin for those pieces. You want a sign and trade Larkin it starts with one of Drury or Morrow along with a 1st and 2nd round pick. Not a bunch of worthless pieces.

Larkin isn't available. Value is irrelevant.
