that barrie deal is brutal. hes currently at peak value right now. Point production crazy high, QB of the best pp in the NHL and defensively has even been good. you can get WAY MORE for barrie, maybe even a domi or part of a deal that bring toews.

He's bad defensively and the vast majority of his points come on the PP with McDavid and Draisaitl who are the real QB's of the PP, he's benefiting from being with them not the other way around

Barrie overall has been as good as or better than Gavrikov. I like the Gavrikov trade idea. But keeping Broberg over Barrie is not making us better, even worse if you’re making him play off wing side. Your team would be better Without your Barrie trade

The trade doesn’t make Edmonton better either. Barrie has been well worth his contract and is our 3rd or 4th best Dman. Issue is Broberg and other prospects have not progressed. Oilers need a top 2 Left dman to push others down the list. A bottom 6 forward isn’t going to make much difference unless he is a spectacular 3C,

EDM has expressed interest in Lafferty, we know this. He is fast, cheap, and a reliable bottom six forward that probably still has some more upside to give, in the right situation. The idea here is for EDM to create cap space and bring in better defensive players But, in this case, I don't care about EDM.

The problem with the proposed trade is CHI has absolutely zero interest in Barrie or the task of MAYBE flipping him. We are rebuilding and he is too old to be part of the future, he takes up roster space, and doesn't add anything to our team that we need in the short term either. If EDM needs to move him, but they can't find any takers, that means they will have to pay us to take him, because we don't want him.

I agree, You have no need of him and we do. it would be pretty hard to replace him for his salary. I don’t really understand what Lafferty brings that’s significantly better than our bottom 6. If we salary dump, it has to be Foegele, puljujarvi or Yamamoto. We could get way more for Barrie, Chicago could flip for profit. He’s worth a 1st rounder at the deadline easy. Especially if you could retain half his salary He’s playing the best hockey of his career

Maybe you are right, but I doubt it. Either way, if EDM does try to move Barrie, CHI isn't the place.
