CHI declines.

I would accept. 2025 is the year they lose everything to FA is it not?

Yeah... Maybe. The thought crossed my mind that, if it is unprotected, it could be interesting. But, I doubt they will fall THAT far down the standings that quickly if Matthews leaves, and I doubt it would be unprotected. Also, that pick will most likely be at least 4 years away from making any sort of valuable impact at the NHL level, with 2 years until the draft and 2 years of development. I guess, even considering all of that, it should still be enticing for a rebuilding blackhawks team, but I think they will have better offers for a 50% retained McCabe.

Also I am becoming so jaded and sick of presenting thoughtful responses when they are always met with disdain from inconsiderate meat heads. So, I try to keep it simple, like, "CHI declines." haha

Most of the times it’s not even the poster of the ACGM’s that do that, something to keep in mind as you navigate the bait. cheers

I trust Friedman more then I have ever trusted Seravalli so I’d be more sure that McCabe won’t waive to anywhere in Canada

For sure. Hence, why, until I am met with intelligent debate about a given subject, I keep it simple.

Leafs aren’t giving up that much for Meier. Essentially 2 1st rounders, a top prospect in Niemela and a good prospect in Ty Voit.

The Leafs should go after a guy like Tarasenko who’s asking price is significantly less. A 1st, 3rd and a good but not great prospect like Alex Steeve. They’d probably throw Kerfoot in there too for cap reasons plus the Blues could flip Kerfoot for more assets

You can't possibly say anyone has trouble valuing players after this. The reported ask for McCabe is a 2nd and B prospect for him at full price and a 1st for him at 50%. Lafferty has no value to the Leafs. On top of that Friedman has already said TO isn't going to pay that price.

If the Leafs can get Meier, that wouldn't be they bad. They could flip him in a sign and trade later on.

So if McCabe is so good that he's a top pair defender in TO who get them a cup, why has he literally never been able to lift teams from the bottom? The grass is always greener with you sir

If the 2023 1st moves you’ve made it into the 2nd round that’s all that matters plus you can resign Meier

Lafferty has no value to the Leafs? I really don't think you watch any teams besides the Leafs with any regularity. You view Engvall as more valuable then Domi who has twice as many points and 5 more goals in one less game, and Lafferty has the same amount of points as Engvall in 7 less games and is known as a defensive buzzsaw, and one of the better PK forwards in the league; not a offensive player. You're so out of touch

I honestly don’t care if Matthews signs with the leafs or another team because he’s probably not signing with the hawks and if he’s not with the hawks it’s all the same to me.
