True. Michkov at number 4 is probably the most wishful. Not sure they can fall that far without a lot of movement. Just getting Matvei makes it all worth it! Be nice to see some actual change after this Horvat mess.

Unless Demko suddenly starts ****ting out ready-to-play Patrick Roys he is not going to earn Vancouver anywhere close to that amount of value.

Mess? VAN made out like bandits in that rental trade.

It was a low return. Raty isnt much. Lots of issues. Cant create own offense, skating is iffy. Maybe a 3rd line center. Beauvilier is overpaid and would be hard to move in the offseason.

Goalies values are so hard to gauge. I dont think they move Demko unless a team shoots over the moon tho

Signing Barbashev makes a lot of sense now in terms of continuing the Russian contingent.

Raty has a lot of potential and I think he could be as good as Horvat in 3 years. I think Beau can reach his original potential on a team that's not an offensive black hole like the Islanders. I would bet money Beau hits 50+ points next year (in a full season). The first rounder could be like a 13-20 OVR pick. Vancouver absolutely won that trade.

Its wild that you seemingly think you lost the Horvat trade but think you can ask for a 2nd for Myers or Yurov for a burden of Boeser

Maybe you weren’t one of the (many) ‘Nucks fans ensuring very loudly on this site that return for Horvat would be a young C, a young RHD + 1st. You got the 1st (conditional 😕), a young C (but a 20 year old that was a 2nd round pick and is currently in AHL and 1-2 years away from playing as a 2/3 C in NHL 😕) and instead of the RHD, you got a winger making same $ as Horvat (but with another year 😕) . Don’t know how you can say you won the trade?
Most concerning to me - if I were a ‘Nucks fan, which I am not - is that the team is clearly not as good today as it was with Horvat. And when will it get better b/c even with Horvat you were miles from playoffs? Must be more moves coming but I think it’ll be another year or two before ‘Nucks can challenge for playoffs, even in the weakest division in league

You know what else? Instead of getting a first round pick between 25-32, the Canucks got a pick that is likely between 13-18. The difference of 15 draft spots is pretty significant

Fair point but that pick (even if mid 1st round) won’t be contributing at nhl level for at least 2 years? Most likely 3-4. Same goes for Raty - good prospect but don’t see him contributing next year; he’s prob min 1 year away (24-25 season). He’s only 20, 2nd round pick and playing in the ahl currently .
Beauvilier has same cap hit as Horvat and is on the books next year.
If the goal was to restructure and not rebuild, short of some pretty unlikely moves. don’t see how this trade makes ‘Nucks better next year.

It’s objectively an overpayment for a player that is overperforming this year and doesn’t come with a contract extension. Of course they aren’t a better team after moving Horvat. That wasn’t the point of moving him. I don’t even know what point you’re trying to make there. They do have better pieces for their future though.

The point is they are not better now (after moving Horvat, no brainer as you said), but they don’t look like they will better until 2-3 years down the road. Beauvilier has same cap as Horvat, so options to add limited next year. Raty is 2 years away from assuming 2C role, if ever & draft picks take 2-4 year to mature. So if you trade Horvat - with no cap savings next year - for futures, why sign kuzmenko? Should have torn it down & rebuild - next competitive window 3-4 years away

My favourite part is the most optimal view of the trade and acting like its a sure thing. Raty isnt close to being Horvat and Beauvilier being a 50 point player isnt a realistic trajectory. But I guess wishful thinking is only valid when it comes from your own perspective.
