I prefer Minnesota. I also don't like Nemec or Holtz nearly as much as other people do though.

Personal preference here but:
-Wallstedt (Goalies are f*ckin' unicorns though...)
-Nemec
-Holtz
-Yurov
-Faber, but I love Shak
-Lambos
-Schmid
-Peart
-Beckman
-Clarke
-Bankier
-Lorenz
-Okhotiuk
-Filmon
-Daws

Edit: I like Minnesota's farm slightly more, but I also think NJ has the one with the higher overall ceiling, and that they're the team that will have more success over the next 5 or so years.

You are kind of comping apples to oranges here, by that I mean you are comping the Devils top LD prospect to the Wild's top G prospect but the ranking was based on who had the better overall pool at each position (F, D and G). If you look at G obviously Minny wins, D I think the edge goes to Jersey, F I think the edge goes back to Minny, this is why the Wild were ranked higher.

Call me a homer, but I just don't see it.

Luke Hughes -- > -- Jesper Wallstedt
Simon Nemec -- >> -- Marco Rossi
Alexander Holtz -- >> -- Liam Öhgren
Seamus Casey -- = -- Danila Yurov
Shakir Mukhamadullin -- = -- Brock Faber

Arseni Gritsyuk -- > -- Carson Lambos
Akira Schmid -- > -- Marat Khusnutdinov
Kevin Bahl -- < -- Jack Peart
Nolan Foote -- = -- Adam Beckman
Graeme Clarke -- = -- David Spacek

Chase Stillman -- < -- Caedan Bankier
Topias Vilén -- = -- Rieger Lorenz
Nikita Okhotiuk -- = -- Daemon Hunt
Josh Filmon -- >> -- Ryan O'Rourke
Nico Daws -- = -- Servac Petrovsky

I also think Columbus, Detroit have more impressive pools. Maybe Buffalo.

Minnesota should probably be in the same range as Arizona, Los Angeles and Nashville.

Close, but I think while Minny is deeper I like the high end of NJ's better. That being said I'm valuing wallstedt on the lower end ONLY because of how voodoo goalies can be, NOT because I don't love him as a prospect. Just think the probability of a top tier D prospect panning out is higher than that of a top tier G prospect.

I agree with you, I was surprised to see Minny at the #1 spot. I think Wheeler just thought it was cool that they have top prospects at all 6 positions. And personally I would never rate a goalie prospect mostly because I have no idea how to project them and also because there are only like 3-5 goalies in the world who are able to convince me that their stats are more than just random noise. So I'd rather have the NJ or CBJ pool FWIW.

Fair point. I just listed them in the order the author has ranked them. If I did by position…

Schmid << Wallstedt

Hughes >> Lambos
Nemec >> Faber
Casey >> Spacek
Mukhamadullin >> Peart
Bahl >= Hunt
Okhotiuk = O’Rourke

Holtz = Rossi
Gritsyuk > Ohgren
Clarke < Yurov
Foote = Beckman
Stillman < Lorenz
Filmon = Bankier

I don’t know if I see it. I guess a top goalie is meaningful enough to vault them to the top. But then you’d think other teams with good goalie prospects would also be higher.

Absolutely, impossible to make valuable comparisons without looking at similar positions, particularly goalies who should never be compared to skaters.

Compare goalies with goalies
Compare D-men with D-men (and try to compare OFD with OFD and DFD with DFD)
Compare Centers with Centers (try to compare OC with OC and 2-ways with 2-ways)
Compare wingers with wingers (same as above)

That is literally what I said, the OP was comping goalies to skaters and wingers to centers and whatnot.

Yes and the "absolutely" at the beginning means that I agree with you?

Works with or without the comma!

We both don't think it's ideal to make all over the place comparisons. Enjoy it when we agree! lol

I just listed them in order 1 thru 15 because that is how it was done at the Athletic.

Really the only advantage MIN has is with C and G.

Minnesota just seems like a very random team to be #1 overall.

I don't follow the Athletic much so I am not aware of the rankings

I also haven't been hardcore on hockey and prospects this year so my knowledge isn't as good as usual

That said, comparisons should be made like I described in the post you quoted.

I understand why you did it their way though, np
