Random thought. I know the idea of retaining on a UFA isn't new, but what if that UFA is McDavid?
Say Edmonton trades him with a 5 year extension @ $20M with 40% retained ($8M/season) keeping him at $12M, for a 1st each year (and maybe a prospect).

Can't argue with the money. He's worth it, but the salary cap limits what you can do once you have him if you were to sign him as a free agent.
Would it be a reasonable use of cap and picks from either side to make such a deal work?

Injuries ruined this season. The only thing that is lavi is fault is how he runs the lines and the constant changing of them. We have a talented group of guys when fully healthy and we gotta be motivated which is another thing we lacked

Could try something like that ^ ^ ^

CAP needs flexibility.
* franchise-tag on 'home-grown' drafted/developed player(s),
* a luxury tax, or
* PA-NHL meet once a year for one-time $5-MIL CAP increase talks in-season, blah-blah...

Bruins are so dirty man, first AJ Greer crosschecks Hoffman in the face ( he did get ejected though ) and then Zboril crosschecks Pezzetta‘s face into the boards ( while he’s battling for the puck on his knees )

The Refs have been Terrible. Shoud've been another Major on Boston right before Pasta's goal. This game has gotten out of hand because the Refs suck ass.
