Draft day

Created by: NewDG
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 9, 2023
Published: Mar. 11, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Montreal wants to accelerate the rebuild and there is no guarantee Dubois will sign with Montreal when he is UFA. He will get $9-9.5M from another team. Montreal could secure him this summer for $8M/8 years. Jets do not want to lose him for nothing.

Buffalo is entering their window for the Cup and needs experience and leadership for playoffs.

Monahan $2M salary and $2M bonus if at least 50 games played before 2024 trade deadline or 70 for the season.

All LTIR players will be off next year and they have many contracts to negotiate and will probably be over salary cap. Price will help them for cap relief.

Buffalo doesn't consider.
How does Price help Edmonton's cap situation?
No one is paying for Armia.
Dubois trade maybe but since you don't get buffalos first you probably have to put in Florida's.

Olofsson has 33 points and he is 5’11 not even 200 pounds. He will disappear in the playoffs. Greenway has 8 points. Anderson will finish with 20-25 goals and has much more playoffs experience. Same for Edmundson. The game is different in playoffs. They would be good additions to Buffalo roster.

There’s no chance Adams trades his first for Anderson if he trades his first this year it’s for a goalie.

Can we build a team thats good enough to get their first before we entertain terrible trades for guys who are big and slow? Olofsson sucks, he won't be here.

I think Buffalo is ready for good playoffs run and they have plenty of young players so Anderson and Edmundson for a late first seems fair. I agree they also need a goaler.

You put the 2023 first in that deal, which will likely be 12th overall.

Teams drafting 12th overall are in no position to make moves that are specifically geared towards the playoffs. Need to get there first.

Would you be able to add beck in the Dubois deal and the jets add in vesalainen? Vesalainen is dominant in liiga rn and could use a team to unlock his nhl talent. Understand if it's not enough just asking if that's something there. Probably the most realistic agm from a habs prospective in awhile

Easy no for Winnipeg. If the Jets are taking lower end prospects like Roy and Kidney, then your first would need to be higher to be competitive with other offers.

Dvorak is also an expensive 4C on Winnipeg that is poor defensively, so he holds no value to the Jets. You'll need to move him elsewhere or pay the Jets to take him off your hands.

Oilers decline. You might want to read up on how LTIR works.
