Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assumptions:

Picks in draft - 5/6/7th (Reinbacher, Smith, Benson), 15/16th (Wood, ASP)

Team will be improved, but not in the playoff race. Dvorak and Monahan are the only real assets to sell at the deadline.

Habs should move on from Monahan, Harvey-Pinard, Ylonen, Mesar, etc... should be given opportunities.

If the Habs could have got a 2nd for Edmundson he would have been gone at the deadline, his price is in the toilet, he will need to rebound back strong to justify that ask.

Reinbacher at 5th? We should do bpa and I think that would be Benson, Smith than someone else. I don't think Reinbacher should be picked in the top 10 (same with ASP) but I think once a team who needs a dman drafts one of them, the other will go quick

I know that that's the common wisdom, and I subscribe to it, too, but remember where a smarter guy than all of us selected Moritz Seider, which was an equal surprise.

I also completely agree with you that once one of Reinbacher/Sandin Pillikka goes (maybe to Detroit), there's an excellent chance that the other goes to Buffalo.

LA says no, Carter says no unless we are retaining to move him to a contender, and we say no to the Detroit trade.

I’d be fine with letting him walk. Mesar is one of the few prospects I’m willing to trade though.

Buying out Armia is Cheaper and you got 1/10th the angry posts
Its like 33 k , 1.033m then 1.3m for 4 years vs 3.4m for 2 years
Its almost impossible to pass on buying him out unless you think he can be rebuilt and sold as a UFA (which i used to but not anymore)

Also its a 3.4m QO on Gudianov to keep his RFA rights.
If you're signing him to less money its gotta be Pitlick like scenario where MTL doesnt QO him then re-signs him to 1-2 year deal.
He might get 1.5-2m but only if he produces another 10 pts this year minimum , anything less he's basically Pitlick with Experience lol

I wouldn't take Josh Anderson for free, let alone for 3 assets.

So retain on Anderson and we can find a deal for him, take smith at 5 obviously and if you really want a Rd Dragicevic or Reinbacker or Sandin-pillikka will still be there by the time you pick in the teens.

I'd pass on Anderson not worth giving up a 2nd+.

I probably wouldn't pay that much either but if they retained a bunch I'd consider him.

Would be buying him out - he can sign with anyone after. Trade is taking on 6 million in salary for a 4th round pick & shipping out Hoffman. In all honesty pick should be higher.
