McJesus and Drai Traded Not Happening

Created by: LloydminsterLarry

Description
No it’s not happening but I’ve seen some odd trades for both that involve emptying out picks. I don’t see a team offloading a million picks. I see player based trades.

Why would anyone give up a 1st for Ceci?

Because he’s a good RHD and those are hard to find.

Good isn't exactly a word that best describes him. He is analytically a replacement level player making 3 million dollars

Canucks easily decline. Ceci is nowhere near worth a 1st.

Yeah no he isn't, He's an okay RHD. But not worth no 1st round pick.

Detroit laugh and passes, No way in hell are you getting 2 1st round picks for Evan Bouchard.

All teams not named Edmonton easily pass. Very doubtful that Aaron Ekblad would waive for Edmonton when he and his fiancee are building a new home outside of Windsor Ontario not more than 15 minutes from Detroit's Little Caesars Arena. i'd see him going to Detroit before Edmonton.

There is no world where Connor gets traded unless he is in the last year of his current deal and has told the Oilers he's not coming back.

Also the Canucks laugh hysterically as they decline and hang up the phone. It seems to be clear that you over value the defensemen on the oilers because I can tell you detroit also laughs at that trade offer.

Watch him play against top lines and tell me he isn’t worth a late 1st. He’s one of the most underrated defenceman in the league.

I don’t think he’s going anywhere. And Bouchard is easily worth two firsts outside the top 10. I’m going to guess you don’t see many Oilers games.

He plays against top lines every night and he has Nurse out there with him who isn’t exactly a defensive stalwart.

He plays against top lines, but it doesn't mean plays against top lines well. He is a replacement level player

"Easily worth two firsts.", Well if you say so I'll go give Stevie a chat that this is a deal of the lifetime.

Considering you have no RHD behind Seider I’m sure he’d love to have Bouchard. We won’t actually trade him though.

If Debrincat was/is worth a 1st (7th), 2nd (39th) and a 3rd, no way is Evan Bouchard worth (2) firsts. The cat has scored over 40 2x and is worth more than Bouchard. Maybe a 1st, 3rd and solid prospect, but no team (smartly) would give EDM (2) 1sts for Bouchard.

Analytically, he's playing the 3rd hardest comp of any defenseman in the league. For just $3M, that's a hell of a deal.

If you're going to quote "analytics", at least get it right.

Once again, just because he plays hard competition, doesn't mean he plays it well. That is like me saying Tyler Myers is an elite defensemen because he plays hard minutes. Ceci is simply not good. Would you like me to recite some of his advanced stats? They aren't too pretty...

He's above 50% in xGF playing the third hardest minutes in the league for just $3M - he's well worth his contract. The fact that you think he's a replacement level player tells me all I need to know about your hockey knowledge.

Do you know what above replacement means? His wins above replacement is in the negatives. Do you know what that means? Do you? It means he is in fact WORSE than a replacement level player. But sure, I'm the clueless one here. Gtfo

Myers is 44% xGF playing easier minutes for $6M. Not a comparison at all.

You need to qualify those numbers with QoC. Which you aren't, clearly.

1st pairing minutes are not the same as 3rd pairing minutes at all. Those numbers only work at league average QoC, which isn't remotely the case here.

Both are bad players. Pretty good comparable. Cody Ceci is worse, older, and more expensive than Ethan Bear, but you don't see Canucks fans trading him for a first round pick . Ceci is definitely not worth a first round pick.
