How good do you think Parayko is? You take that trade 100% of the time if not you’re fired.

If your refering to the Parayko trade I whole heartedly disagree, STL takes that and runs. I think Parayko is a good player and honestly underated.

But he's also 30 Years old, and has 7 years left. STL has now positioned themself in a position where they be quite good again in a coup years, assuming they can hit on their current picks. Boqvist has also quitely been really good since coming back from injury and your getting a 1st, 4th and a young bottom 6er too.

If STL were able to pull off a trade like this they are extending there future window by a lot imo.

Flyers decline, Merzlikins is a player that's gonna have to be dumped imo, or bought out that contract is just not great for how he's played the last 2 years - I think he can be a good goalie again but currently his value is very negative.

Also I know the rumors of Hart being available from Friedman, but I can't see them trading Hart unless the return is too good to pass up, and the best asset here is a late first. Just from the way Torts has backed all year and how Briere has talked about where the team is at in the media. They've been pretty clear that they want to rebuild, but that doesnt mean trade young players that could be core pieces.(Like Chicago has) Hart is the only true franchise building piece as a 24 YO, and Goalies typically hit their primes in their late 20's.

Not a chance.

22 year old right shot D, who produces at a 35-40 points pace, a top-8 protected 1st, a depth pick, and a 23 year old bottom six winger who's shown glimpses of being able to break out for an ageing defenseman on a contract that will not age well.

Columbus loses in this trade, and you're running around acting like Parayko's going to win a Norris.

Im confused
So you're not rebuilding around the youth anymore ?
That is a pretty decent return by any standard Rebuild or not , teams would think hard about it .

Its not like he just offered you a late 1st either CBJ are rebuilding around Gaudreau building via the draft and they just gave up theirs.
True i'd argue top 5 protected of F off but outside that not really much downside as its the highest 1st rounder you'll ever be offered for Parayko in a deep draft

Torts played a system that worked well with Elvis, and those were his two best years. While I don't think the value is exactly there, I wouldn't scoff at Merzlikins and Torts reuniting, especially if Briere decides to go full rebuild with the Flyers and finally get them back on track.

Again, not a chance in hell, if only because 10 teams would easily top that offer, if not embarrass it. A 24 1st and three mehs do not get Parayko, who isn't for sale.

I have acted like no such thing, and it's hilarious how you guys magically know how he'll age. And newsflash: we're all always aging. The guy hasn't even turned 30 yet FCOL.

- Hard pass on Parayko. That contract has already curdled.

- I get the incentive for taking on Edmunson - we need a B4 LD who can fill in for where Gavvy was, but we can find a better, cheaper option either in UFA or in the trade market. For example.

- Points for taking a big swing on the PHI trade, but I wouldn't make it. Hayes can probably be had for a '24 2nd and some scraps, and I'm not sure the remaining package gets you Hart. That Elvis contract is going nowhere anytime soon - still too early for a buyout, and not worth giving up what it would take to move the contract. A porous D has done Elvis no favors, and while I'm not saying he is going to turn back into a brick wall anytime soon, funny things tend to happen when you don't have a god-awful D playing in front of a G, not to mention Lars won't be coaching in two years (or maybe even next year).

Goalies are voodoo. Someone who everyone was convinced was washed can all of a sudden make a big turn around with the proper players/ system is in front of him. *Cough cough*

If lucky the rebuild would be ending towards the end of the Elvis contract, he's 4 years older than Hart and could just walk at the end of the contract. Hart is likely going to look for a rather big pay raise at the end of next year but a semi-large cap hit in a rebuild to keep him wouldn't necessarily be a huge deal. Unless he has a monster year next year I can't see him get more than $7M per and like getting less.
