Panthers decline. That’s not what they’re looking for if they trade bennett

The Zadina for Wheeler trade. Honestly you'd think you'd be foolish not to take such an offer for Zadina from the Wings perspective.

But with Wheeler being 37 next year. It honestly just doesn't make sense for Detroit, he's too old for where they are at. I'd rather trade Zadina for a vet who's around 30 and not as productive but is signed for a few more years instead of just flat out retire after next season. Somebody like Jean-Gabriel Pageau from the Isles for example. it would relieve NYI from salary cap and give Zadina a new start on a better team. Would give the wings a player who would provide more offense then they get out of Zadina and would replace Pius Suter.

In a Zadina for a player 1 for 1 scenario

Why are so many jets agms obsessed with Bennett? He isn't worth giving up young and future assets for anyway as the team could implode after this season. Jets don't do the Bennett trade and any other similar esk deals. (Ie schmaltz)

Wheeler is 13 years older than Zadina. LOL

I know Wheeler is much better. I just find this funny.

Ya that makes sense, just thought Detroit may be interested in his vet presence with there young team and he’s still putting up pretty big numbers at his age

appreciate the feedback

I think it’s just that He just brings a physical presence in the top 6 which I think the jets need and he can play in all scenarios

I wasn’t rly sure what the price is or if they would even be willing to trade him Just thought I’d see what people think

It's not the worst idea. Wheeler can still play. I'd just prefer someone younger.

Yeah but with where we are likely heading into a retool to not lose value on our ufas (likely 2 years) Bennett would have expired and want to leave or big raise to stay. Just doesn't fit the team. If anything I'd rather keep namestnikov if he's cheap or see if someone like lucius or lambert can take the role

I wouldn't mind Wheeler in Detroit at all but I think of a deal was to be made it would be for a mid to late pick.

Yea of course, who wouldn't want Wheeler on their team? But the guy will likely retire after next season. Not the best asset management for a re-building team to give up a 23 year old former 6th overall pick for a 37 year old no matter how solid of a player he is...maybe if Detroit was close to a cup and a guy like Wheels would put them over the top then yea, go for it.

Yeah of course I'll take wheeler in that deal. I'll just flip him at the deadline and still get more than I'd ever get for Zadina

That's why I said mid to late pick. Could always retain and trade him for more at the deadline.

Even if the Jets do make the playoffs and somehow go on a run they should still blow it up in the summer, they've shown that they both can't get it together and moreso just aren't a good enough lineup to make any noise with.

I’m very against trading him but for morrissesy I’d be open. He’s signed to a long contract. But I dont think I’d have bennett as well.
