no. a first, second, chiarot, and kubalik would probably get schmaltz but in that case chiarot is a massive cap dump so it would cost a lot. in all, absolutely not, add in kasper and wallinder for it to be considered

Since when did Arizona fans become so delusional? Marco Kasper + Wallinder would get the entire org of Arizona lo

How could AZ say no to Chiarot? LOL

Kidding, I get it, he's a salary move, but without even really picking this thing apart, you can assume that unless AZ gets Bedard, any player with any form of a clause has AZ on that list.

Ignoring ntcs and such, this is effectively 2 very good top 6 players for a change of scenery player, a cap dump, and a future 2nd round pick (kubalik). That package of picks however, is pretty dang solid. I guess it would have to be Yzerman making the decision that he doesn't like his options in this very deep draft.

Arizona needs to stop stockpiling picks, but this would be the last year to do it. I'm not sure either team doesn't at least think about it.

Arizona doesn’t consider that. Maybe for Shmaltz, but definitely not if Keller is involved. Chiarot is a big cap dump, Zadina is basically a bust, and Kubalik is a wild card. Not to mention, Chiarot doesn’t consider waiving for Arizona, and the Wings don’t need to move him to say compliant. I also highly doubt that Yzerman even considers moving the current 10OA pick.

Precisely why I doubt Yzerman considers this.
He loves his draft picks and his draftees.

Why does everyone on CFACGM think Yzerman is trading all of his first round picks away? LOL

Did I miss something he said recently? 🤔

Yeah especially for Keller and Schmaltz, They don't dramatically make our team any better than it's currently now. Way too much for Detroit to give up.

Detroit passes, if the 10th and 17th overall picks are in play, It sure as hell is going to be for players better than Keller and Schmaltz.

Interesting enough, most no trade clauses are filled with teams in ****ty climate and teams with ****ty local taxes. Someone reported a couple years ago (maybe Seravalli??) that the majority of 8-10 team NTC include all Canadian teams and usually a couple of the northern market teams like Columbus, Philidelphia, NYI, Washington, Buffalo. AZ was rarely on the lists, great weather and super low taxes.

Keller has 7 more points and 5 more goals than Larkin, is 2 years younger, and makes 1.6mil less. If he gets shopped the wings had better be looking at him. A 10th overall pick is not guaranteed to be a 40 goal scorer. and schmaltz is almost a point per game player over the last 2 years. Keep in mind both those players did that on the worst team in league.

A couple of years ago? Ok, maybe before they were playing in a 5,000 seat arena that barely gets filled for the next few years?

Exactly why I'd think about it from Detroit's perspective. If Keller were in this year's draft, knowing what we know, he'd likely be in the top 5; plus he is contributing right now at a bargain contract. Schmaltz would be a good fit in the middle 6, which is exactly what the team needs with Fabbri always hurt, Bertuzzi gone, and Perron and Kubalik on expiring deals.

I will say, the package of picks is over the top. I'd take one of the 23 2nds out, 2 1sts and that many seconds for the equivalent of a top 5 pick and late 1st or early 2nd round is a bit much. I'd cut one of the 1sts out and have a 2nd coming back to Detroit based on Zadina measureables. The pick would have to be top 5 protected.

This draft, for Detroit, if not for the top 2 slam dunks, I'd target in this order: 1. Will Smith 2. Oliver Moore 2b. Matter Mitchkov 3. Sandin Pelikka 4. David Reinbacher. I don't want Dvorsky or Benson, or any other wing in this draft (out of the top 15 projections). If all those guys are off the board by the 10th pick, I'm fine with just having the 17th pick. I think Pelikka will be available, in which case I'd nix this trade proposal. Pelikka will be ready in faster time than Edvinsson, and it shores up the blue line for years to come.

I dont see Mitchkov making it past the top 5, Smith will go early, and Carlson is a wing who has played little center with men this year so I don't want him either. Moore would fit nicely but will take a few years, but he can be the future 1C.
