Ehh, I'm not sure about the Pens trade for a few reasons.

1) Really no reason for them to retain. I like Fabbri, I think he's a decent player and probably a good fit for the Pens, but dude can't stay healthy, so he offers no real reason for the Pens to retain to make this happen.

2) It's very hard to gauge how the Pens plan on altering their defense, if at all aside from replacing the two holes on the left side. Petry, despite taking a little while to acclimate to his new team finished pretty strong. He had a solid season. He was on a 40 point pace with playing a 2nd pairing role and not playing on the 1st PP unit. I really wouldn't look to move him unless the Pens got a great offer.

IMO you've overpaid for DeBrincat but like the moves, as it really puts the Wings in true playoff contention.....for years.

Figured I'd throw this out there. Honestly, I was just looking at acquiring a RD vet. Tanev, Dillon, and Gudas would arguably be better options for us to look into, as it would be preferable to have a more defensively responsible guy to pair with Edvinsson.

I'm sure Rutta will be available. I know he's not a sexy name, but the Pens were a better team with him in the lineup. He's a luxury for us to have on the 3rd pair. I'm still apprehensive about Fabbri in general because of his injury issues, but I'd consider a Rutta/Fabbri swap. You'd be saving money.

Rutta would probably be alright in that spot, but the term scares me a bit. Would rather have a shorter term.

I actually updated this ACGM to trade for Tanev instead of Petry smile

It's the same term as Fabbri. You'd only have him for two seasons with a growing cap.

Haha fair enough.

You're at least $1,000,000 to $1,500,000 too low on DeBrincat he's getting more than $7,500,000 long term.

And the Rangers will find a way to match that offer sheet on Alexis Lafreniere. besides Yzerman is like Holland and doesn't believe in offer sheets. he'd rather keep the peace then piss of GMs that he might have to work with down the road.

Tanev would get a 1st+ at the trade deadline.

OTT declines, not moving a 40 goal scorer to a DIVISIONAL rival without DET 2023 1st in the deal.

Flames Pass

Not interested in Injury Prone Fabbri and we’ll get a better return elsewhere or at the Deadline

honestly like your train of thought. I would like to see if we could move the 2nd in the Debrincat trade until 2024. Also, I don't expect Fabbri has any value right now with concerns of his knee injuries. Instead, maybe wings could trade Lindstrom and some other pick or prospect to get Tanev. That way Flames shed cap and get younger and wings get a solid RD. I also think it would be a good idea to go after Laf if there is any chance Rangers have issues with the cap hit, but I imagine it would be through a trade for his RFA rights as opposed to an offer sheet. I wonder if it could be built around the 2024 Boston 1st we have.
