Rico has nothing but positive value to us and Hoffman has the same value to us just with a — before that value

Are you saying the Pens trade Carter and a 5th for Hoffman at 50%?

      If so, done

Adam Henrique is good in the faceoff circles and is an excellent two-way player, and is still one of the top scorers on our team. I would trade him for your 2023 second-round draft pick. I don't think that the one-dimensional Mike Hoffman has that value at all.

Also note that they're less than a million dollars apart in real money, so the economic benefit to Anaheim isn't as great as it might appear.

Henrique (or Rico as we call him) is our premier trade piece this TDL, and we don't need the cap savings of this trade. He is an incredibly complete 200ft forward with great defensive instincts and has excellent finishing ability, his entire career his GF has been above his xGF. He is arguably our best faceoff man (maybe its Lundestrom, but there's not much in it) as well as a leader who has been wearing the A for years.

Hoffman is a goal scorer who doesn't score goals anymore, and the most notable thing about him was his psycho girlfriend teasing the captains wife about a miscarriage. Really not the sort of player we want to bring into the locker room. Yes, I know it wasn't him who did it, but he also didn't shut her down, and if he stuck his stick in crazy once, he will do it again.

A closer comparison on skill would be Silfverberg and Hoffman, but again, we don't want Hoffman in our locker room.

Canucks decline. If Myers gets moved, it will be in a deal with no money coming back, as the Canucks will look to use his $6 mil to get a replacement like Severson in FA. Certainly doesn't make sense to trade him for Hoffman, it only saves about $1.5 mil but we would need to acquire a top 4 RHD to replace Myers, which simply put you can't do with only $1.5 mil. Canucks also have no interest in Hoffman, we currently have Kuzmenko, Mikheyev, Beauvillier, Boeser, Garland, Kravtsov, Podkolzin, Studnicka, and Hoglander at wing. At best Hoffman would be an overpaid 4th liner, but would most likely end up being a $4.5 million dollar healthy scratch. Much better ways to spend money than that.

      He's a Pending UFA . . . .
Moving him wont be hard at all if we RS 50%.

Non Playoff teams will take advantage like MTL did with Scandella who we kept for 4-6 weeks before flipping .
Why bother ? Well if memory serve's me we used those picks to boost our final return to Trudeau , Farrell and Kappanen after investing a 4th rounder in Scandella and almost 2 months.

Playoff teams will take advantage as as Hoffman at 2.25m won be a hard sell and at worst one of the teams involved in the trade will have to pay another team a 4th or 5th to RS 50% .I mean they wont be lining up to pay a 1st or a 2nd or anything but a 3-7th round pick isnt impossible alongside a B level prospect

Sorry but this is an awfully ridiculous statement, Wideman's cap his is below the league min for next year (775k) so just take him and bury him if you don't want to play him but remember since you are moving a guy off your roster you still have to replace him, if the plan is Severson great go get him and Send Wide's the the AHL, no team has cap space for a 6 mil contract and are willing to take it for just a 3rd. It cost a 1st for the Flames to dump Monahan, it will cost the same to dump Meyer
