2324 miracle work

Created by: cwhitney29
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 19, 2023
Published: Apr. 22, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
-realistically, of all the moves i made, i would expect granlund to be bought out, and doc + nylander + poehling to be extended. everything else is guesswork/ fantasy (half the signings are players youve never heard of to fill out the baby pens' roster)
-the draft trades with seattle/ carolina are trade backs based on predicted draft order
-shoutout to ltir contracts to circumvent the cap

The Rust trade is very undervalued (criminally so)

Smith is a very good looking (and cheap D). Why trade him for an ok defenseman?

Van is not remotely interested. Guentzel is not needed but a starting goalie is.

The trade downs are interesting. You don't see that suggestion very often

Vegas declines. McNabb is clearly a better player than Smith, and Vegas probably doesn't care about that 3rd.

AZ also declines. This trade has them taking on over $9m in real salary they'll have to pay in exchange for Little, who's contract is likely 75% or 80% covered by insurance. AZ isn't taking on more real money with their limited revenue stream.

I probably wouldn't trade down in this draft. Could get a real impactful player at 14 and is the highest we've chosen in since 2012 I believe. I do like the creativity here though. We desperately need a massive shakeup and for the roster to be nuked, and you've done that

Give us Jarry and a first instead of the 2nd and we might consider.

Wings decline. player doesn't fit wings timelines, if he goes to a contender, he gets you more back

Detroit accepts. But I'm biased. I've always been a Rust fan.

Pens aren’t trading Guentzel and if they would, it wouldn’t be for a guy who weighs about as much as a wet napkin and an overrated goalie.

Easy decline for Vegas. We’re in our window and McNabb brings a much more physical presence than Smith ever could.
