Jiricek or Kent would be going the other way in a Petey deal no doubt.

Canucks pass easily. It would take two of Johnson/Jiricek/CBJ 2023 1st at minimum for the Canucks to consider (assuming the pick isn’t 1st overall)

Hoffman isnt a cap dump when the Habs could retain 50% on him. A player like him at 2.25m is worth like a 3rd or late 2nd

no they don't. They would have to start with the 1st OA for Petey

Even if we can't ship him out, we can buyout his contract right now for pennies.

buyout is going to be the best option for him and armia i think. Yes we could retain on one year of hoffman and maybe get something but hes not an attractive piece at the deadline because his complete lack of defensive awareness will get exposed once the playoffs come, hes a piece a team may go after to add some depth scoring but only after exhausting all other options. Id buy him out and save a retention spot to take back a bad contract to have more flexibility to flip some other players.

Canucks decline. Any deal for Pettersson would start with Jiricek plus either Johnson or CBJ 2023 1st (Johnson if the pick is 1st, the pick if it's 2-4).

have you watched a single game that Hoffman has played this year? If hes a two way play than every player currently in the NHL in a two way player..
