That Boston pick could be a lottery pick or a pick in the early teens. It looks like Bergeron and likely Krecji are done. I don't know how they cope with holes at 1 and 2C. There's nothing in the prospect pool that gets the Bs any sort of replacement that can even decently fill that hole. Marchand and Pastrnak will still carry the load offensively, but without any help at center and 5 million in bonuses to pay out, this team could have a real down year.

Point is, I'd top 10 protect that pick. Anderson is worth the offer for sure. I also don't know if McIssac fits in Calgary's plans, as he is left shot D.

My bet is he goes to Toronto for 6.75 to 7.25 and the Leafs move Nylander. If Bertuzzi were willing to sign a 4 year deal around 6 million, he'd still be a Red Wing.

No on Debrincat. That 17th or 18th pick is gonna get a good prospect or will be useful in moving up to get player the Wings really want. If the Wings pick 1st or 2nd, well duh. But if at 9 or 10, it is likely Moore or Reinbacher/Pelikka. Trade up with 1 of the 2nds and get someone like Barlow or Yager. A team like Pittsburgh or StLouis might be willing to do a trade down for a few spots, as both teams need to add prospects no matter the round.

I think Yzerman heard a 1st rd pick and said ok. Bertuzzi was having a pretty rough season he did break a bone in his hand. Then in his 1st game back Chiarot takes a waist high slap shot with only Bertuzzi between him and the goal and hits Bertuzzi in the hand. I think someone will offer Bertuzzi $6M I'm just not sire it will be Detroit. I'd take him back because he always bounces back plus Yzerman wants more grit. With the way Larkin acted when he was asked about Bertuzzi being traded I'm sure he wouldn't be opposed. But stations like this rarely happen and no one knows what Yzerman is thinking.

I understand and respect your stance on DeBrincat. But with our awful lottery luck, losing 2 players out of our top 6 (Vrana and Bertuzzi) and Yzerman saying we need some luck. I think being able to get DrBrincat for that 1st, a 2nd and Hanas without having to lose Raymond, Berggren or Rasmussen I think it's the luck Yzerman has been looking for even if we add a roster player like Kubalik. With Hanas we still Mazur. Lombardi and Soderblom in GR. DeBrincat is a year younger than Larkin and would fit in well on his wing. Maybe put Perron on the other wing and you could put Kasper between Raymond and Berggren.

I agree 100%. In a recent Winnipeg ACGM they had Schmidt for Fabbri and if Schmidt was right handed I'd take it in a second.

Agreed that a Bert reunion seems unlikely but it is possible based on his relationship with Larkin and his (seeming) love for Detroit. I’d take him back in a heartbeat but he’ll have plenty of suitors.

I saw Fabbri as more of a throw in who could still contribute to some smaller level. The 1st, 2nd, 4th and Mastrosimone were the main pieces.

The problem is adding Debrincat right now. Yzerman, Lalonde, and Larkin have all acknowledged the need to be tougher. Ironically, the two forwards who bring a bit of snarl were out for most of the year in Bertuzzi and Fabbri. Rasmussen thankfully is turning into a fierce competitor.

Debrincat is not tough. If you thought goals were hard for him to come by in Ottawa, it's gonna be harder in Detroit. I fully understand the thought process on trading for Debrincat, but there is only a few suitors that have the cap flexibility to bring him on. Debrincat is a luxury player, added to an existing core. Why not wait a year and get him as a UFA?

Love Bert but at 28 years old his new contract won't age too well. He's had back surgery. His style of play isn't conducive to a productive career into his 30s. I miss him though. Guy is all guts. It was nice seeing Bert flourish in the playoffs.

He wants too much term for Yzerman to be comfortable with. That's why they couldn't agree on a contract.

Yeah that is true he wants to get tougher to play against and he also said we need to score more. It's not like he's a ***** he only missed 16 games in 5 seasons and he did throw 109 hits last season and 101 the season.

I doubt it. Leafs need to plan for Matthews' big raise and possibly re-signing Nylander.

Debrincat is most likely getting traded to a team with an extension. These types of players rarely hit UFA. Maybe he refuses to sign anywhere and wants to hit UFA but that could change any minute. Stevie Y should take this deal and run

It all depends on Matthews. Marner is probably the best of the big 4 in Toronto and Tavares has a NMC that I doubt he'd waive unless he actually wants out of his home area.

If Mattews won't resign, I could see a trade in the making; Mattews does seem pretty happy in Toronto. For awhile, it seemed like Nylander might want out, and the fans wanted him gone too. Now that the Leafs have won the Stanley Cup...er 1st round... they might all be content to keep it together and take the same money as before.

Bertuzzi would add a different element to Toronto. Nylander would be a loss, but if he wants over 7 million, like 8 million even, things get tougher to manage. If Toronto can lock up Bertuzzi for 7 million and 6 years, that would be a savings off Nylanders next deal. Plus, trading Nylander has a ton of value coming back. Lots of tough choices for the Leafs.
