Isles can’t afford to trade a pick in this years draft imo. At least not the second rounder.

I’d think the o my way the pens wouldn’t do that is if they win the draft lottery and move up big or if Michkov falls to 14.

I couldn't see Michkov falling to 14 but crazier things have happened. I'm this scenario they don't win the lottery or else I would have to likely send more to try and grab pick #4 from them and likely wouldn't be worth it.

I could see it happening due to his contract and the whole Russian issue going on, but yeah, I doubt he falls that far if he falls at all

I just think too many teams would take a chance on him. He did state that he does want to play in the NHL but who knows in 3 years.

On board for so much of this, should be the goals in the short term. Killorn and Foligno would be really nice adds. Why not let Bailey replace Kubalik though? Would like to see more of the young guys in there though too so maybe it’s alright, but then also don’t resign Suter. Not sure I see Schenn signing here but similar player type we would be looking for. If wings can go hard for a big draft haul like you’re doing here too I’d be all for it

Bailey was pretty bad this year but I would let him earn a spot when injuries hit. I don't think Soderblom or Mazur are quite ready but they could also come up with injuries.
If I don't resign Suter I have no one to play 4C. Veleno is not there yet in my opinion. He's bad at draws, is ok defensively and is just meh in my opinion. Suter is really strong on the PK and in the D zone and can still chip in 15-20 goals. I feel he is also improving as well. I think partnering Foligno with Suter then adding an energy guy like Veleno would work good. Veleno could learn from those two and develop into a defensive forward with some upside.
Schenn would be the ideal target but that could be any decent veteran RHD.

To be fair I really really liked Suter’s game this season, I just am hoping both Zadina and Mazur are in the lineup as I still believe in Z and think Mazur can slowly earn his way in like Berggren did this year. Think he’s ready for a high energy bottom 6 role that will elevate to middle 6

Yeah I want him to get into the line up this year but I would prefer if he starts in Grand Rapids. I haven't given up on Zadina and honestly there is no point in trading him. He doesn't bring much value anymore so I would rather him rot in Detroit or else turn into something.
I probably send Johansson down to Grand Rapids once Edvinsson is back unless he has completely earned his spot. At that point I think we have to try and move Chiarot, maybe with retention we can get a return.

I like the Minn trade , good for both teams. Thinking a couple of teams will do a sniff test on Foligno.
2 years of RyJo @ 8 might be a tough pill to swallow. Overall some creative takes

More odds of getting struck by lightning. Definitely does not get passed Washington, realistically he doesn't fall out of top 5.

Isles accept but they'll give you 2024 2nd and 2025 5th. Isles cant afford to have no picks in first 3 rounds in 23'.

I was going to say in the description but I forgot you have to manually save it now. For the first 3 round I went:
#9 Moore
#14 Barlow
#28 Willander
#41 Augustine
#42 Nadeau
#43 Dower Nilsson
#73 Mann

I really like all the move here except signing Killorn (3 years) when we have Copp (4 years) that would be best to slide to 2LW and let Bergy be 3LW and have Perron move to 2RW and Zadina/Foligno to 3RW. Hoping that we can develop Sods, Kasper, Mazur and whomever we draft in 1st this year on the front end will be key in the next 2/3 years. Now would I rather have Killorn than Copp, yes, but that is not an option.

Need to remember that Raz, Ray and Mo next deals will have probably close to $14-16M in additional cap in 24-25.

I added Killorn to replace the offence Kubalik brought, plus more. In all reality the lines could be any mix mash depending on chemistry. I just like the idea of Perron and Copp playing with Kasper. Not only is that a tough line to play against, they can really help shelter and mentor him. Berggren I want to get top six time to try and release some more offence from him.
When it comes to Soderblom and Mazur, plus whoever else we draft, I would be calling to those two first when injuries happen and if trades happen at the deadline then they would need to be brought up. 20-30 games in the NHL to see if they can hang would be ideal for me.
I put the extensions in the description. 33M in cap space and all those extensions I have add up to 28M. More than enough to find a back up goalie again and fill the rest with ELCs.

Isles say "NO"....not moving a 2nd rounder for 1 yr of Bailey's contract. He will be in Bridgeport or bought out. We are keeping our picks.
