That 14th OA is locked, it’s not getting moved and I hope it stays that way

However I would absolutely go after Scheifle with our ‘24 first and then some

This would be great - I'd take it for sure. If you threw an extra mil for Jarry, or maybe even Anderson, I may even call it fantastic. Although that 3rd pair scares me a little haha

P.S. Put DOC in the starting lineup or we're gonna have to take this outside.

Unfortunately you're not giving Winnipeg any incentive to consider the deal.

For a 70 point player at 3 mil I think its 100% worth it. We need to go for it while the core is still hanging in there. I would rather trade 24' first too, but I doubt they'd do any retention if that's the case.

I've seen almost everyone like this trade from both point of views. You might be the first person to say something like this. Not saying your wrong but I'd like to think this is a very interesting trade for both teams and many others agree

Also for the goaltending I'd be hesitant to get Anderson. He's been good in the playoffs, but he's often injured.

Much appreciated lol. The urge for me to say you put him in for the wrong person is killing me - but I don't want to be that guy. As long as he's in there haha

I haven't seen them, a late first for a retained 1C is pretty cheap and would be below the bare minimum at the TDL, so that's what I mean about it being not interesting.

You may be seeing stuff for the vocal minority. The fans that just want Scheifele gone and will agree to anything.

Uh 14th ovr in a deep draft ain't exactly a late pick. Also, this is very much fair value for a rental if you guys plan to rebuild or retool

I agree - his injury history worries me too. I kind of just threw him in there for the hell of it.

See I think a 1 year rental isn't worth 14 overall. He is good but still a rental and the Pens aren't one player away...

I'd be willing to take a shot on him as backup

That is true. 14th isn't as late as Pittsburgh's pick normally is. Still with retention for a full year I think the Jets would ask for a good prospect instead of Legare.

However, if PLD is traded then it is extremely unlikely Scheifele is moved. I can't see the Jets trading both in the same summer unless they do what they say they aren't doing and go full tear down to the studs and rebuild.

I assume he'll get paid too much for a backup - but I would as well.

Yeah, that's the rub. I'm assuming Pickering is too much and as an LHD might not be a target anyways for the Jets. Do you have any centers or right shot forwards with top 6 potential?

Ha ha ha ha ha. Sassy...I like it.

So you replaced Zucker with Bert. I can see that. Zucker was the better player last year but Bert is younger. Both have a bit of injury history. Next season it is likely a wash in terms of who is better.

You replaces Granlund with Barb. That's an improvement.

You replaced Rutta with Graves, another strong improvement.

You replaced Jarry work Korpsy. Not sure I love that.

So you did make the team better without Scheifile, why trade for him? I would rather use 14 to get a blue chip prospect or (my personal preference) go all in and trade 14 with next years 1st and a little more to get Saros.

It sounds like you want Carter to be traded to any team and then that team buys him out so he can sign anywhere. I might be 100% wrong, but I think there is a cap recapture penalty so if he does get bought out by another team, we get stuck with either all of his original cap hit or some of it. Again, I could be wrong but with him being on a 35+ contract there are some really weird rules that come with that. But he also has that full NMC so he would probably say no to any trade. Which means considering your line up, we'd have to probably not sign one of the UFA's you have signed.

Because he is a point per game winger who put up 40+ goals last year. the 14th overall pick would at best become a decent starter in 2025, but more likely in 2026. It isn't helping you win now so it shouldn't matter if it's moved. At some point we have to rebuild, but it's not now.

    Detroit declines Ruuta.

How about Ruuta and the 1st for Detroits 5th?
