  2. Merkley, Ryan [RFA Rights]
  3. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
  4. 2024 4th round pick (COL)
COL
  1. Marner, Mitchell ($5,450,000 retained)
3.
4.
ANA
  1. 2023 1st round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
BUF needs a star goalie and can’t afford to keep waiting for new prospects to develop. They have the pieces to compete now just shy of a goalie. Henrique is a top 6 F as well who is good on wing or center and great defensively and will net 30 goals.
BUF
  1. Gibson, John
  2. Henrique, Adam ($2,912,500 retained)
5.
ANA
  1. Boeser, Brock
  2. Garland, Conor
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (TOR)
  4. 2023 3rd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
VAN is over the cap and they’ll be held over the barrel for any trade, this is probably one of the least painful ones
6.
ANA
  1. Lafrenière, Alexis [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
I personally think trading Laf is a mistake but the Rangers may be afraid they end in a Puljujarvi situation if they leave if. This at least get them some talent that works in their window
NYR
  1. Boeser, Brock ($3,325,000 retained)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (TOR)

Canucks pass. They can be cap compliant without making any trades. It wouldn’t be ideal, but it’s possible

Canucks decline. They aren't over the cap, they can currently put together a 22 man roster for next season with about $2 mil in cap space without making any moves. Ideally we'd make moves to improve the team but if it's gonna cost us to move anyone, we'll just keep our guys and move forward with the team as is.

Canucks aren’t over the cap. This makes them significantly weaker at wing. They’d likely only move 1 of them

You’re gonna have to add a lot more than just him for Laf, we literally have no reason to do this.

I think buffalo declines this. Gibson isn’t the goalie he used to be and we certainly aren’t giving you our 1st this year for him. Yeah we need a goalie but I think we can sign Raanta or trade for someone that’s much cheaper and doesn’t have 5 years left on his deal

None of the trades being bad really matters because the Ducks are a small market team. The idea they would retain and pay out over 20 million in salary to players on other teams is bonkers. It all falls apart because all that retention will never happen.

Even with Landy's LTIR money the Avs can't afford Marner, and won't be giving up that to do it either.

As a Rangers/Ducks fan I can tell you that there’s no way the Blueshirts are gonna give up on Laffy this early. Maybe in 2 more years but not yet. Look how long it took Zbad to become the player he is today.

Sure, they'll spend money on the Ducks roster when the time is appropriate to do that. The point was that they aren't a large enough market to throw money around and pay guys to play on some other team.

You are asking Samuelli to flush 20M down the toilet. If you want something tangible to look at in this regard consider that in the last two TDL's there have been ample opportunities to be a 3rd party trade broker, retaining salary for a pick or prospect. Minnesota and others did that a bunch. Anaheim has not once done that. Those deals because they happen at the deadline involve far less than 1M in money and the Ducks don't even do that. Now you want them to fork out 20M? Not going to happen my friend.
