What? Not even sure how that's a question. Almost Ppg in the AHL but only 21 games nhl, he is still developing

It’s been 3 years since being drafted 9th ovr
I feel he’d have a more noticeable impact at this point

He's only 21. He's producing in the AHL at a rate that indicates he'll be a legit NHLer.

So, it's too soon.

Its completely irrelevant though. He was sick for a whole year lost crazy weight and he's already small. Drafting a player high isn't a tell of how fast they will be ready to play but how good they will be when they're 25

Not really my point tho
Lots of players have problems within their careers that are out of their control

It doesn't change the literal fact he LOST AN ENTIRE YEAR OF CRUCIAL DEVELOPMENT TIME TO A HEALTH SCARE WHERE HE NEARLY DIED.

The fact he's even a near PPG player in the AHL after coming back from that at all at this point is a testament to his potential skill and talent.

Losing a full year of development is completely relevant. Doesn't change the question but changes the answer. Youre wondering if he's a bust, we're saying it's too early to even ask combined with his health scare. Ask again in 3 more years when he's above 200 nhl games played.

That’s fair, only reason i posted this ques was A wild really need low cost good players next year cause cap
And B because I thought it had been 4 years since his draft but I was wrong and it’s only 3

I hope he can contribute next year. I would love to see him do well. Maybe an insulated 3rd line role? I could see that working

Again, he lost a crucial year of development.

So the CORRECT technical way to evaluate him is to consider him as you would any prospect drafted TWO years ago and not 3. And by those standards he's doing just fine.

If he's on the roster, he needs to be with either Kaprizov on the 1st or Boldy on the 2nd line. He's played well from a defensive standpoint when he was in the NHL earlier, so it's not like he was playing poorly, but he needs to get his offensive game on track. The only way that happens is by playing top six minutes with actual talent. Whether that be in the AHL or NHL.

He's 21. He's been nearly a point-per-game player in the AHL, and he's played a grand total of 21 NHL games so far. He was widely regarded as one of the hardest-working and most physically fit players among top prospects for the 2020 draft, before he lost an entire year of development to long-term complications from COVID. And he is the exact type of player the Wild will need during these next two seasons: one making close to the league minimum with a chance to (potentially, hopefully) perform well beyond his cap hit. Trading him now makes absolutely zero sense. I can't believe how many people are already giving up on him.
