Uhhh... why? I don't think there's anything wrong with this, but I doubt the Canes will move a center, a position they're already weak at, for a winger where they are already strong. I doubt the Canes will move roster pieces for Marner. He's overpaid and overrated. He doesn't add enough goal-scoring to justify moving a 23-year-old 2nd line center signed long-term for a dude that's up in 2 years. Especially because there's about to be a thousand Leaf fans crying about how this isn't enough because they don't pay attention to the Canes

Canes would be in a pickle down the middle, but why not.

See absolutely no reason for TOR to do this.

The canes jump at this, I get they have center issues but you can't not take marner because of it.

he's only 22. His contract could end up being a big steal long term.

Currently. I said in the description he has 2C potential. That's not an outrageous possibility.

Canes don’t do it anyway. They already have their 2C, so moving him just to bring in another RW is a mistake, especially when they don’t have anyone ready to replace KK, and would have to waste assets to bring in a replacement. Marner to Carolina is completely unrealistic.

Let’s think about this objectively.

If all 2yrs of a 99pt player cost was Kotkaniemi and a very late 1st, the Canes would take that trade on every day that ends in a y.

They can figure out their hole down the middle of the off-season.

Is this realistic, no. Toronto would never accept that sort of return.

I don't think the long term dollars would work out for the Canes. The one option is that could move Necas to center and have to move on from Turbo to keep the others next year.
