Nemec and Mercer are each individually more valuable to the Devils than Quinn, and Siegenthaler would never be traded for him.

The trade sucks for Jersey but don't be dramatic, neither are worth close to a top10 Dman in the league. Nemec has proven nothing and Mercer is a good young top6 center in the league, not premier.

I like your moxie but I doubt many of these teams do these deals.

Seattle isn't trading Beniers even if it means getting EP40. Not with OEL attached plus having to give up Wright as well. Also don't forget that as great as EP40 is and he's a complete came changer he will be getting a monster contract this summer or next north of 10 million. That's nearly 20 million of cap room for two players and the 3 you're giving up make less then 6.

I don't think the rebuilding Hawks would at this point want to add a JT Miller and give up that draft capital. Makes zero sense.

I kinda like the other two deals. smile

It would be nice to have a player like Miller to take some of the early pressure off of Bedard but his contract is too long. He will not be earning it at the end. Price to get him doesn’t make any sense to a rebuilding team. Hawks would pass.

You our out of your mind if you think Mercer or Nemec has more value then Quinn Hughes. Both are exciting valuable young players but neither are proven like Quinn who is a franchise level dman who will likely garner norris votes this year. He was tied for 2nd in points in the league for defensemen and finished a +15 on a terrible Canucks team.

Nor is Quinn Hughes. I can name you at least 25 D-Men more valuable than him.

More of the same. Everyone likes to fight here with tribalism and ad hominem attacks. No compromise. So boring. Hughes is so much more valuable than both. good players, well, Mercer, certainly is a good player, whom knows about Nemec who's all hype and promise.

Go ahead and start... I'll wait. After 10 or so names your list will look ridiculous like your statement.

Did I say worth more, or did I say worth more to the Devils? Unless you think Luke Hughes is a bust, there's no reason for the Devils to choose any LHD in the league over a young cost controlled top six forward or one of the top 18 year old RDs in AHL history

Dont backpedal. You are arguing semantics. You said what you said! A top 10 dman is as valuable to the Devils as the other 31 teams in the league. That is why teams draft BPA every time unless the players are very close in perceived potential Nemec/Wright. ELC contracts dont change that. The Devils have no one to pay even IF that is your argument.

Nemec recent 2nd overall pick who had a good d+1 year Mercer 21 year old who just scored 27g29A Seigenthaler 26 year old top 4 D who just signed a discount extension 5x3.4 and a 1st for a player the devils will almost certainly get for free in a few summers and Myers.

1) Victor Hedman
2) Mikhail Sergachev
3) Christopher Tanev (bias pick)
4) Alex Pietrangelo
5) Shea Theodore

These 28 picks are just my opinion, so I don't even know why I'm posting this. I agree that, offensively, Quinn Hughes is top 10 in the league, but defensively, he just isn't it (in my opinion) (the picks are not in order).

No, I am not arguing semantics. I said what I said intentionally. Let me try to rephrase my point: The Devils should not give up any piece of significant value for a LD, including Hughes, because they are very strong at LD.

I also do not believe Nemec was BPA, nor was it close. Cooley was BPA.

Couldn't have picked a worse team to try a JT Miller trade with. Hawks obviously decline.

Avs don't even pick up the phone.

Why would they downgrade their goalie, and give up a 1st, and a cost controlled top4 dman for a winger for 2 years? That's not a dire need for the Avs.

i feel bad for canuck fans who are going to have to watch EP40 waste away his prime bc the ownership and management are a disaster. And I'm sure other GMs feel bad, too. But that doesn't mean they do things out of charity. There is no way any of these teams do these deals.

Canucks really should just blow it all up, Arizona-style, and think longer term towards a future that isn't built by folks that are starting to seem strategically incompetent. EP40 would return an NBA star-type return, imo - many, many picks and prospects. They'd get a head start on Arizona or Chicago, honestly
