Description
No! I don’t think this will happen. I don’t think Oilers should do this although I think Sharks would be tempted to say yes as they are getting 5 1st picks basically guarranteed here. Oilers don’t really need Karlsson and should not persue Karlsson. Signing Mayfield would make more sense.

I get it. Sharks does not want to retain 50%. I know they only want to retain about 15-20%. But the only way for Oilers to be able to go after Karlsson is with Sharks retaining this much. At least Oilers gave up quite a bit here. Again this is not realistic and will not happen but this is the only way to try to make it work. Oilers are so cap strapped here that if the Cal doesn’t go up by eat least 2m if not more by the 2024-2025 season they are totally screwed.

Not even McJesus himself could convince CHI to do that trade.

That's a haul for the Sharks, but you're also getting the Norris winner for under $6M AAV. You're giving the Oilers #2-4 prospects plus two 1sts, which would transform the Sharks prospect pool.

I appreciate that you didn't didn't try to stick Campbell in there when you're also getting $23M in retention.

At the end of the day I think the trade would have fewer prospects and less retention for both sides to accept.

3rd team involved so SJ doesn't have to retain 50% and EDM doesn't have to give up so much

Sure broberg would add to the pool but does Bourgault or Savoie crack their top 10 prospects in their pool? I don’t think so. It’s a whole lot of retention and taking ceci back

Wonder why Oiler fans are so anxious to get rid of Yama.....multiple daily AGM's just to the Hawks? I think the Hawks will keep their draft pick, keep their retension slot (of which they would only have one if they did this nonsense), and keep the player much more likely to be healthier/play more games, that was more productive last season

Not only is Dickenson more valuable at his cap hit, but Hawks aren't going to use a retention slot nor give up picks for Yama. If the Oilers want to unload Yama, than sure but hawks aren't going to pay for him is my guess.
