Liljegren as a piece in a Murray dump with only a 4th coming back is genuinely one of the most absurd things I have ever seen on this site

Since when is Backlund a cap dump. Murray can be dumped easily as a buyout, certainly not for Liljgren.

He may not be a cap dump but to get to a 23 man roster the Flames have to add 5 players and have $1,250,000 to do it with. They have to shave some salary someplace.

That gets you to $3,450,000. League minimum salary x 5 players is $3,875,000, then you just lost a goalie so that creates another hole to fill. It doesn't have to be Backlund and especially if they are talking about making him captain. But the Flames are right up to the cap. If they trade Vladar then they are going to still need to trade somebody else.

I don't disagree, but he is making just over $800k, so you are saving $1,400,000 which still puts you over a million bucks over the cap to get to 23.

You simply move vladar for a third, trade hanifin for a first and a prospect call up wolf, Phillips, Pelletier duehr and coronato, resign stetcher for cheap
