I don’t think Ottawa will be looking for futures in any trade for DeBrincat. They’re ready to compete now and picks/prospects don’t help. The Tkachuk deal is a good comparable, address a couple areas of need and send DeBrincat out.

None of your ideas really make sense for Ottawa.

                  Hanas for DeBrincat 1:1.

I also take the proposed offer, but would think something like Kubalik retained would be desired more than say, that 2nd.

I agree as well. But let’s say you could get a Tomasino who you could insert in your middle 6 right away and use the cap space on signing Bertuzzi/Tatar/Zucker how could u say no.

Was thinking about Dallas as well , Marchment for cap reasons but I would try to pry Dellandrea instead of Bourque. Stars are pretty strapped for cap though.

I think in the Detroit deal the second would be swapped with a third then I think it's good. I think you instantly take the return and swap it for Hart. Honestly I think Kubalik would be a better fit over Hanas just cause he's a cheap NHL player that can score. #17 Kubalik and a third for Cat then take those picks and send them to Philly for Hart.

It will come down to which teams he is willing to sign an extension with, if its a small window its going to be hard for the Sens to recoup anywhere near this value. The PHI/LA/CLB trade gave us an idea how pricy it's going to be to move cap this offseason, and that may limit the market more, if say the Rangers are on it.

With the way his salary and qualifying offer requirements are limiting things, DeBrincat has everything in his own hands here.

He has the option of sitting pat and either make you pay him 9 millions or he goes UFA and you get nothing at all for him.

Unless you take some of the futures and trade for a goalie like Hart.

I would only want Hart in the deal if there’s a cheap forward coming back too

Like the Canes proposal of Teravainen with the picks, you flip the picks for Hart and you have the combo for less than Cats 9 mil

I'd be open to Kubalik + 17th OA

Then trade for arvidsson or Iafallo and get a goalie and we good

I am also open to this; would prefer it.

Flip 17OA and whatever else is needed to get Helley.
"Whatever else is needed," isn't throwaway pieces, but I think you can get it done with what you have without losing anything worth more than Pinto.

I wouldn’t trade Pinto and 17th for a goalie after losing Cat , terrible assets management

I'm not saying add Pinto; I'm saying add whatever assets you need to add that are worth less than him.
