They throw in what looks to be a first round bust at this point. He’s a bottom 6er taken way too early in the draft. He won’t ever live up to the top 10 billing.

Sadly, agree with that reality but not the logic the Sabres would apply - Konecny would add an aggressive forechecking, agitating element the Sabres don't really have on the roster and could benefit from. Mittelstadt flourished last season for the 1st time but his forte is playmaking, of which the Sabres already have Krebs on board and Savoie waiting in the wings.

Torts is on board with the rebuild and there’s no guarantee TK ( or any of the vets for that matter) resign. Best to kick the rebuild into high gear and get the most back to have the best chance of hitting on draft picks or better by successful with reclamation projects
