Ducks could probably get a better offer from another team.

I know still in win-now mode, but I doubt the Avs would dump what's left of this year's draft capital into Hayes. I think it'd be a good fit, but don't know if they want to pay that price. Also think E-rod will be looking for more than 3m but I could be mistaken.

ERod, Newhook, Byram are all low. Meyers is probably low too.

Id probably like this for the sabres but i feel like this sort of cooks the Avs and so its hard for me to imagine theyd entertain it.

That's an underwhelming return for Toews and probably an overpay on Hayes. Also, Byram gets a good amount more money.

There's no way that Adams would give an 8 year contract for $7M to a player, who will turn 30 this upcoming season - not when he knows that the Dahlin and Power extensions will kick in next summer and he has several other young core players coming off their ELCs with projected long-term extensions due in 2 summers from now. He says it all the time - he won't handcuff the organization in a way that prevents them from keeping their core. As great as Toews is, he is past his prime and would never live up to the value of that contract until age 37.

The extension needs work but the idea is fantastic. 6 x 6M I would be all over.

They could, they can also risk having to pay him his QO at 2.5. Ducks have a lot of other young players coming through, macDermid wil replace Deslauriers as brusher on the 4th line until the ducks young guns have learned to be more physical in year or two.

buffalo would take that in a heartbeat, but they have no need for a third-first pairing caliber left defenseman

We have way too many bottom 6 forwards already. Even if we have to QO Comtois, giving him another year for redemption is better than underselling him.

A lot of collateral going out for a bunch of guys for one year as the Avs can't afford them when Landy comes back.

Thankfully Adams has more long-range vision to steer clear of something too many teams succumb to by signing older players to long-term deals and regretting it halfway through the contract.

6x6? If that's the ask, Toews is an Av for life. That is way below market value.

If the cap goes up 4mil in 2024/2025, there is room for Landy. Olofsson is a rental, the rest is either under contract or RFAs. Toews can get more, the problem is finding a team that needs top Dman next 1-5 years and have the capspace and assets to trade.
