CHI declines. But also, why trade so much for Karlsson? I think SJS would want 1st's too. But that is just about ALL of the Isles future in one trade for an aging defenseman on a huge contract.

Hawks pass....LHD aged prospect is of no interest with the Hawks having no less than 5 LHD prospects that should be getting NHL icetime this year and Korchinski coming soon. Bailey and a 2nd and 2nd is the deal to move him to the Hawks.

I get that. Karlsson is clearly the better player but Dobson still has upside and is vastly cheaper.

Also Because of karlsson age, dobson likely provides more on ice value over the next 2-3 seasons. If the isles sign Dobson long term, it eats up his age 25-32 seasons and if they decide to trade him , prime age top pair RHD are one of the most sought after positions and teams overpay for it.

Over the next 2-3 years its very obvious that Karlsson will be the better player. To say otherwise is a bit of a hilarious joke. After 2-3 years Dobson is definitely better. Karlsson is one of the best offensive dmen of all time just coming off the fifth best season by a defensemen in NHL history and doing it on a terrible team. Dobson cant even touch Karlssons elite level right now and hes not even remotely close.

Karlsson had an incredible season offensively , coming off of 2 underwhelming seasons. At 33 YO, given his injury history style of play , it’s very likely he doesn’t come close to this years impact next season.

Dobson was miles better than karlsson in 21-22 season, so acting like it’s a given that Karlsson will be better next season is just wishful thinking.

Yourself included everyone discounts the last two years for Karlsson as down seasons when he never actually played healthy which essentially saying an injured player sucks whch is really silly.

The fancy stats do not sway me. Anyone saying that Dobson is better than Karlsson needs to legit get their heads checked. Sorry boss but youve struck out.

3x Norris. I seriously doubt Dobson will even sniff one Norris. Lets be mature about this and admit when youre wrong. Its hard to do but you should try it.

Injuries have to be factored in. It’s a part of the game. This isn’t a fancy stat lol , this is exactly what happened on the ice.

I never argued Dobson was better than Karlsson this past season, there’s just a strong chance Dobson is better than Karlsson over the next 2-3 years when factoring in age, injuries, and regression.

I’d rather have Dobson at $4mil and likely around $6.5-$7mil once his contract is up than Karlsson at $9.5mil for the next 4 years
