Why would BUF trade their young top 4 d they signed to an awesome 8 year deal.

well 7 years and he's really not all that good. Granted, I wouldnt deal him for Jones given his contract, but it would make the Sabres better.

Brossoit won't be a target for Hawks. Buffalo isn't trading Samuelsson for Jones. Hawks aren't trading away picks for Kupari, Yamo or Dube. Boston can get a better return for Frederic than what's in this deal.

What's the justification for the unprovoked trade of Rasmus Kupari? He's a fine bottom-6 forward and at his cap hit, it's not as if we move cap out. That third-round pick is by no means guaranteed to deliver a NHL player, and Kupari has shown that he is one.

Figured if guys like Thomas, Madden, and Turcotte are going to be competing for roster spots next season, they may want to move a guy like Kupari to clear a roster spot. Also, he's not going to get very far on the 4th line IMO.

He is though. An absolute difference maker for the sabres.

He's not. People think that because of the 8 game losing streak they went on when he was out but that was less about samuelsson and more to do with the fact that Jokiharju, Lyubushkin and Clague are fringe NHLers.

Also they had like an 800 save percentage from their goalies lol. He's a solid #4 d-man. If someone wants to give me their #2 RHD for him, Im not saying no just because he's big.

Personally, I think Jones is an upgrade. He is less defensively consistent but can outscore Samuelsson by a mile. Also, I believe the handedness does make a big difference (it allows Dahlin to play his natural side).

Jones is no where near an upgrade. He's a less physical risto on a terrible contract

Dahlin played RD in Sweden, he was more used to that then LD. Buffalo was actually the ones that switched him back to LD. This is basically a lateral move for Buffalo. Would still be trying to make are Top 4

I guess you are not a fan of a patient rebuild, huh? I personally would not be on board with anything you did there & hope KD wouldn’t either.
Second thought; protecting Bedard on the third line is something they should do at least in the beginning.

Not a single asset being offered for Frederic has any value. It's all waiver bait and Boston or any team in the NHL already has guys of that caliber lying around in the AHL

Kupari is better than all those guys other than Turcotte when healthy. But Turcotte is still waiver eligible. Thomas while he could turn into something good; he's had as much or more injury issues as Turcotte but is waiver eligible so LA will try to sneak him through waivers. Madden isn't good enough to be worried about losing to waivers.
