We don't want Cat that badly.
You can trade him to another team as rental then and get way less.

Detroit laugh and passes, Not moving Berggren let alone Mazur. Berggren put up 28 points in 67 games basically playing 3rd and 4th line minutes. Both down the road might be better than DeBrincat.

it's just funny that people chirp Leafs fans for posting the same trades, yet I see Detroit fans argue over different Debrincat trades 10+ times a day

don't take it personally

Just because one team is willing to pay x amount doesn't mean another team is.

Detroit passes. Not caving into any pressures on the Cat trade. It will be a deal that makes sense for Detroit or it won't be a deal.
No better forward prospects/young players as Detroit is thin in this area. This means no Berggren, no Mazur, no Kasper, no Lombardi, no Rasmussen, no Buchelnikov
We'd be willing to trade a LD defense prospect as Detroit has many. Forward prospects/young players we'd consider moving. Zadina, Hanas, Veleno, James, Niederbach.

Detroit doesn't do that, but what is that Lawson Crouse trade? Red Wings need to pay an "in-division premium" but Senators can get Lawson Crouse for penniesHuh?

crookshank, sokolov (2 B+ prospects) a 2nd round pick and a proven bottom six winger isn't enough for Crouse??

Coyotes signed Crouse to a 5y contract. Why would they even consider trading him unless they are getting a massive offer? 6'4 Power forward who can score goals: Teams will be overpaying for him if Arizona makes him available.

Crookshank...AHL'er. Sokolov is 23 already and can't even crack the Senators lineup. I know both Crookshank and Sokolov are young, but they have proved nothing at the NHL level yet. And Arizona have like fifteen 2nd round picks already.

What? That doesn't even make sense. One teams fans post the same trades over and over the other reacts to bad trade suggestions from other teams fans. That's not comparable at all. If you're tired of our responses; talk to Ottawa fans about posting their garbage DeBrincat trades. If you ask me, Ottawa fans are acting an awful lot like Leaf fans.

Not even Berggren? Ok so how are they going to get him? No Mazur, no Berggren, no 1st... etc

Mathieu Joseph has 30 pts in 67 games with Ottawa, in 14:29 TOI per game (1 more min than Berggren and 2:20 of those minutes are on the PK). Many call him a cap dump on CF

I thought most agreed that something like Berggren + 2nd + 3rd was a fair trade?

Yeah Ottawa won't take any LHD.

And those forwards you named... absolute zero interest, none would make the team unless the goal was to severely downgrade from DeBrincat

Stutzle, Norris, Tkachuk, Batherson, Giroux, DeBrincat, Pinto, Greig, Joseph, Kastelic : these 10 guys will be on the team (except DeBrincat who has to return a roster player or assets to get at least a roster forward)

Then you have the question marks : Formenton (?), Gauthier, Crookshank, Sokolov, Järventie, Smejkal, Pettersson, Ostapchuk will be battling for spots

We have our own projects, no need to add any of these guys

Not sure why Arizona would trade Crouse for quantity but those 4 pieces have value

Joseph, Mathieu : excellent 2-way bottom-6 forward, elite on the PK, plus skater. Produces about 30-35 pts per 82 games without PP time.
Crookshank, Angus : could be an excellent bottom-6 forward too. He was going to make the team out of camp in 2021-22 but got badly injured and missed the whole season.
Sokolov, Egor : some Sens fans are higher on him than me, I don't see a long NHL career because of skating but he has skill and a deadly shot. Needs an opportunity and PP time (won't get it in Ottawa)
2024 2nd round pick (OTT)

This is roughly a 2nd + 3rd + 3rd + 4th. Don't see why Arizona wouldn't target more quality but it's also not pennies

Yeah, OP has Berggren and Greig on the 4th line. It means we wouldn't need Crouse then

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
Barbashev - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Berggren
Crookshank - Kastelic - Joseph
Gauthier

Invest in a goalie to share the load with Forsberg

Not interested in this trade then. DeBrincat can go be overpaid somewhere else. I'm not that high on him. Not for the 8-9 million a season he wants. He's Ottawa's problem.

I'd rather keep 9OA and 17 OA and draft two very good forwards and they'll both be in the lineup in 1-2 years on ELC's. Raymond, Seider, Edvinsson, Kasper will all be on or nearing bigger contracts by then and the cap space DeBrincat will command will be problematic for the 30 goals he scores but 50 he allows because of his terrible defensive zone play and tiny size. Spending 8-9 mil on a 5'7" guy is not very smart.

I never thought it was the smartest to go get him. I wanted Dorion to go after a Top-4 RHD instead... DeBrincat will be very useful for a team lacking in scoring forwards/wingers... but with Tkachuk/Stutzle/Giroux/Norris/Batherson and then Pinto/Greig/other prospects that was far from a dire need.

DeBrincat is not terrible defensively at all though, he got exposed in Ottawa's system but it's pretty hard to look good defensively under this coaching staff. They just can't play 2-way hockey (either can't score or give up a lot of goals) and their hockey systems are not NHL level or barely works.

I can totally understand not giving up the 9th OA pick in this draft but I haven't seen many Sens fans asking that for DeBrincat (keep in mind random hockey fans make Ottawa ACGMs too). The 17th OA should be available though but that depends on Yzerman plan

That's why I personally have been asking Kubalik + 17th OA + 2nd/3rd but I'd rather just let DeBrincat walk at the end of the year than trade him for Zadina and Sebrango
