I cannot imagine Gabe Vilardi costing himself millions of dollars by signing that deal. He knows he's getting a short bridge for 75% of that figure and then a 7-year deal for 150% of that number if not more. Fifty million or more over 9 years with the stability of staying in one place is a lot better than $21.5 million over five years and the uncertainty of free agency.

Interesting CHI deal. Granlund's contract is a lot to swallow but that's an interesting combo of a potentially useful player and some draft capital.

Petry would certainly be a nice piece for the Sabres, Petry would fit into the Sabre line up but is over paid by about $3,250,000/year.
Taking on $6,500,000 of dead cap would cost more than a second.
The Islanders had to pay 2021 COL - #60, 2022 #45, and 2023 #81 to take on $8,750,000 of Andrew Ladd's cap hit.

Remove Olofsson and LAK 2023 third, then add a second and third to Petry for the Sabres to consider this trade.
