I like Leonard, but if Jarmo is trading down for him I'd like to see him go to 7 and include a Hart/Merzlikins swap plus some other assets.

I think Habs very easily decline this trade. If Ducks were interested in moving 2oa than I could see dach being included.

Why would MTL do this? Why wouldn’t they just keep Dach and be happy to pick a great player in the draft still? I mean, I guess you’d have to really love Andrew Peeke

MTL: I would trade our 5OA for your 3OA anytime... but not at cost of Dach turn out to be great in MTL... habs refuse

To avoid being top heavy and to have a more veteran winger on each of the top 2 lines. They’ll get similar 5v5 minutes anyway and he’ll be on the PP1.

Probably because they love Carlsson or Smith and don’t think they’ll be there at 5. It’s looking like they’re going to miss out on PLD so they need another top center.

It does make sense. Laine and Gaudreau are both puck dominant. I do think Dach has a lot of what Laine needs in a C and would definitely like to see them play together. Nitpicking lines at this point is a bit weird.

Also, love Leonard. Not sure I would trade down but I think he'd be a fantastic Blue Jacket. Probably plays in the center of the ice too.

Dach was dominant last year in the second half. Huguee wouldn’t probably trade Dach one for one for the 3rd overall pick. Adding to that the 5th overall would be a terrible trade for MTL.

Like don't get me wrong I would absolutely be ecstatic if we got Leonard but not when we are sitting at slot 3 and have a chance at a true 1C lotto ticket with good odds. Leonard is going to have a great career though
