I doubt they would give up McTavish straight up let alone give up picks and Gibson with him.....

I agree this deal wouldnt be accepted, unless Brad has some dirt on the GM in Anaheim..Id replace that kid with a 2nd tier prospect to make it more feasable..

With the talent of nylander and a good goalie in return... I thought that would do it. Gibson is an upgrade for sure, but he wants out.

I agree that since Gibby has had a couple bad years and he wants out that brings his trade value down a tad..

Lol at thinking MUrray owed 6 million real dollars can be moved for a lateish 3rd. Check ur GM's trade/dump history on what it really costs to move 6 million in salary when he moved Monihan (spoiler alert....it costs a 1st)

The feedback is try again without Mctavish...during the Leafs rebuild they would not have even considered trading Willy, Austin, or Mitch before they fully broke into the NHL. Most rebuilding teams feel the same about their best young players.

Take out McTavish, Gibson and Samsonov and we would still say No.

What kind of feedback would YOU give if the ACGM were Matthews for Henrique, Silfverberg and our 2025 first?

Nylander has NO talent after June 30, 2024 because he won't re-sign with Anaheim, and the idea that "he wants out" aren't reports but rumors -- the "reports" you ought to pay attention to are those that the Canadian teams are on his no-trade list.

If the cap hit was 6 mill then yes a 1st, but for a 4.8 cap hit.. no. A 2nd at best

Caphit is meaningless to the Hawks on a 1 year deal. The issue is what do they get for their actual real money they have to spend which is 6 million US (not that Canadian funny money). The Hawks just (as in the last week) bought a 2nd round pick for 2.33 million (the Bailey dump)....so why would they buy another 2nd for 6 million a week later? 6 million dollars buys a 1st (and probably a little sweetner at that) or no one is screwing with that deal for you.

Best bet is buy him out and hope you can overcome the 2 million penalty next Summer because the Hawks are not helping for a 3rd or 2nd or anything short of a 1st at this point....cause they can keep their powder dry and will have plenty of oppurtunities to use capspace to buy picks between now and the TDL.

The 20 year old top 3 pick center isn’t available. There

Our 1st round picks aren’t available either, especially for a guy we can try and get as a FA if we want to do that

I dont blame you for not wanting to give up that package..I wouldnt do it if the show was on the other foot either.
but I think Ducks could use him (to put with leo) and he would resign to live in Cali (damn I would to..Canadian winters suck)..but I dont think (and of course this is just my amateur opinion) he isnt gonna hiyt the FA market..wherever hes gonna play next if not Toronto, will have had to have aquired him to negotiate..but I guess we will see..
Has Gibby changed his mind about playing in Anaheim yet? (I dont understand why he would want out as the team is looking to finally be turning things around, or am I to optomistic?)

Frank isn’t reliable, none of the insiders really are when it comes to Anaheim so I don’t believe it right now

Sure. A 2nd might do it, if TOR even had any 2nd's to trade. Also, Treliving just handed over all of the leverage to other teams by putting TOR so far over the cap. He should've moved that contract before free agency. Picking Ethan Cowan doesn't help either, because he is not a trade chip that is worth his draft position, whereas that draft pick was actually worth something before he used it on such a reach.

Every smart GM knows that you have the most leverage AFTER you go over the cap and the other 31 teams have you over a barrel!
