Buyout only costs 200 000, depends where he waived too, chytil/goodrow for scheifele fully retained rental?

If we call fair on the RFA values then why make a trade? Ok he's a bit overpaid but play him 3W and move up one of the guys who still needs ice time to grow in Kaako and Laf instead of signing Tara. Sign someone cheaper and keep a full roster.

The whole point of having the soon-to-be-forgotten Brandon Scanlin file for arbitration was to open up a second window for a buyout.

Gabriel Perrault and Barclay Goodrow to Anaheim for Sam Carrick is probably the Rangers best case scenario in a Goodrow deal tbh.

Or they don’t be stupid and sign Tarasenko. Trading Perrault or a 1st is just ridiculous and further damages the prospect pool. We’re gonna need cheap guys coming up in the next 2-3 years to contend. Anyone thinking cup or bust in 1 year is simply dumb because it rarely happens (look at how long it took Tampa, Washington and St. Louis to win, even Vegas took 6 years while actively going all in to win). We need to build a long term contender, it’s our best shot.

Rangers cannot buyout Goodrow. He does not have a $4M cap hit.

They can with the arbitration buyout period. That is considered a “Regular Buyout Period”. The 4m rule is only for times outside of that period.

You can only buyout a players contract during the "The regular buyout period" which consists of the time following the stanley cup playoff completion to June 30th. Then if a team has 1 or more arbitration filings they have a second window to perform a buyout outside of the regular buyout period aka the time following the completion of the stanley cup playoffs to June 30th.

Regular Buyout Period - end of playoffs to June 30th
Arbitration Buyout Period - after last team arbitration case and the player must have a cap hit of $4M and be on the teams reserve list the previous trade deadline.

There is no other time you can buy out a player.
