Neither Boone, nor KJ are available

CBJ need a center.....and you're proposing they move 1 guy who's playing it rn and 1 who they hope can transition back to play it.....for a winger
At least have some idea of other team's needs before you propose trades with them

Do you actually think miniRobo is enough to make a team take Murray’s contract?

How anyone can see this return and not just think, yup let's do it and trade someone else to get a centre because this is an utter gross trade for TO. Yeah Jenner has some fun elements but nothing here will ever be as impactful as Nylander. Brodie is way better than Peeke and Minten is a very very good prospect. This is really bad for TO.

Just breaking down the last 2 trades:
Brodie>Peeke
Johnson>Minten
Nyalnder>>>Jenner

Lilly's value>>>>>Parayko

So, why would the Leafs take those trades?

CBJ have no used for Brodie though. Their blue line is already crowded and they very clearly have a plan for it.
Brodie is a good player, but he doesn't fit CBJ at all and the only use he/Peeke have in this trade is shedding cap for Toronto and giving them a longer term cost controlled asset. Brodie likely has negative value to a team like Columbus in a trade like this. He'd just be a more expensive guy that'll take playing time away from younger players who Columbus need to figure out whether they'll have a longer term place on the team or not, like Boqvist or potentially getting Jiricek time in the NHL this year.

KJ is a huge piece of the team's core and just put up a very very good rookie season despite the utter disaster the team as a whole was last year. The team simply isn't looking to move him. Nylander is great, but they have no reason to seek out a trade for him considering their needs. The only way they'd even think about moving KJ is for a long term top 6 center, and even then I think they'd be better off just holding. They've already got 2 massive deals for wingers and they're gonna have to start dishing out big raises to some of these young players soon. Paying close to 10 mil for another winger, even if he's worth that much (which I think he is) doesn't make sense for a team in Columbus's situation.

Yeah, the idea that you can then make other trades to figure out center is good in theory, but isn't great in the real NHL. CBJ also already have a fair amount of good center prospects that are a couple years away. Theoretically flipping Minten and Brodie with retention, or other assets to fill the gap at C could work in GM mode on NHL or something, but there aren't exactly many great options out there which will make sense cost wise. Banking on just figuring it out after would be a big mistake.

Brodie is better defensively than anyone you have. You are unlikely a playoff team yet so sell him at the deadline for a 1st. Much much much worse defenceman have been traded for 1sts. Nylander would be vying with Johnny Hockey to be your best player and makes Laine expendable. If you get an offer that you win, you don't say no just because you want a centre, you laugh accept it and then make other moves to improve.

You're just completely ignoring that there's 0 reason for CBJ to go after Nylander to begin with, it's as simple as that.

They aren't trading their captain, they aren't trading KJ, they have 0 interest in Brodie coming back.

To even suggest anything like this is just pointless

Don’t worry blues don’t even dignify this trade offer with a response it’s so far below paraykos value

The eternal comedy. Leafs are fans are so reminiscent of English soccer fans. Blues pass. And no, Lily is not worth more than Parayko, let alone >>>>>>> more than Parayko. Watch other teams occasionally.

If you were "going after Nylander" you'd be laughed off the phone with this offer. If Treliving offered this you would be stupid to say no.

Are we actually debating Johnson vs. Minten? They're a year apart, but one put up 40 points in the NHL last year on a trash team and the other isn't even the best center on his WHL team.

This is just complete ignorance of how other teams are set up I guess. Brodie is negative value here. We don't want him, Only reason we'd take him is to make YOUR cap work. Tell me why we'd trade our captain, very high level prospect that just had a great rookie year all things considered, and Peeke who clearly has a fair bit of vlaue, for.......1 year of Nylander and Minten. Please get real.

Of course we are. It's a continued example of "everything in Columbus is **** hur dur". These kinds of fans are flat out trolls or have their head so far up the ass of Canadian hockey teams that they don't know the quality of any other players around the league.

Please tell me how it's Leafs hate to point out that paying loads for a rental would be completely idiotic for a team like Columbus who are at least 2 years away
Or how taking Brodie, with a big contract that you can't afford and we don't need, is anything other than a favor for you?

If you win a trade this badly, you take it. If any team offers you a player as good as Nylander and the ask is not a whole lot of anything that matters, you just say "ah, okay. Thanks, see you later!" Then go and flip whatever you need to to fix other areas

How are you so thick skulled that you can't understand this?
Columbus is not anywhere near a position to compete this year. Trading for Nylander who....IS A RENTAL....would be completely counterintuitive to everything Columbus has done the past 3 seasons. Giving up big important assets for 1 year of him, just to miss playoffs or barely squeak in would be an abysmally stupid move.

How are you this thick headed. Obviously no one is buying Willy as a rental it will be with an extension in place. So just get that nonsense out of your head. Now I don't care about needs or whatever other nonsense you want to throw out. Just think about this objectively, you get Willy extended for a 30 year old middle 6 centre, a 6/7 defenceman and a prospect. And you get a player who is better defensively than any defenceman you have and a prospect that looks like he may be ready for the NHL right now. And he's a centre with a ceiling of an elite defensive 2C.

How could possibly say no to that? Oh you don't need a winger? Trade Laine then for a centre. Or Werenski, or anyone, I don't care. The goal of any team is to improve your team unless you are tanking and Columbus isn't tanking. So this is a slam dunk win. If you still disagree, then you just irrationally hate Nylander or something because this is a win, a huge win.
