Calgary says if Lindholm hasn't resigned by the end of the year give us a call then but only if you're prepared to make a real offer then.

A stud defensive penalty killer and a league leader in SHG's, TWO A-level top prospects, and a 1st isn't a *real* offer?

Minnesota needs to add?

Are you kidding me? Because you must be joking. Lindholm is great and all, but he's still a 2nd line center by most metrics. And he isn't coming either retained or with an extension here. Calgary would be hard pressed to find a better offer then this. Because it's already a clear overpay.

Maybe you might quibble that a better piece than Dewar is sent back. But I guarantee it's not that significant of an increase in value that it'll matter much, if anything.

So no, unless Lindholm is coming either retained or with an extension Minnesota isn't adding or overpaying for 1 year of Lindholm. Or for his UFA rights either.

It's a much better offer than I initially thought. I nearly always look up players/prospects when I don't recognize the names but this is one time I didn't. There've been so many extreme lowball and outright trash proposals for Flames players lately I got lazy didn't bother looking up the Wild players/prospects and just assumed since I didn't recognize any of the names they mustn't very good.

The two prospects are actually pretty good, Dewar is ok and a 1st is always nice. The only problems are minor 1) they're all left shots and 2) the only center is Dewar the smallest, oldest and least valuable of the three. If Calgary goes full rebuild an offer like this would be in the running but Calgary wants to retool not rebuild. They won't trade Lindholm unless forced to and even then they'd prefer a good young center or very good center prospect as part of the return.

Edit: Also if Calgary does wind up trading Lindholm to maximize the return it will likely either be with an extension already in place or to a team of his choice that he's willing to extend with immediately after the trade.

When you see an actually semi reasonable Lindholm trade (granted as long as there’s an extension in place for him):

Wait that’s illegal

Pretty close but maybe too much risk on 3 prospects/first rounders to Flsmes…but decent start

I'd say yes as Calgary. This is basically three years of first round picks... are you gonna do much better? What are Flames fans expecting for Lindholm? Marco Rossi ++?

Minnesota can keep Rossi. Calgary already has a lot of small forward prospects. As we saw at this year's draft, Conroy puts a lot more emphasis on size with skill than Treliving ever did. Bonehead Brad never did figure out when Sutter talked about size and speed or skill he wanted one player with 2 of the former not two players with one each.

I sure as hell hope Billy doesn't do this trade. This is the equivalent of three firsts plus a bottom six center who skates like the wind and has upside for one year of a 2(A)C who does not drive his line and wants Bo Horvat---+ money. Wonderful player but not at that cost for the cash strapped Wild IMO.

Pretty illegal but team clearly does it all the time, the most recent exemple is Dubois with L.A

I'd much prefer this to Rossi++. Rossi is another left shot little guy and Calgary already has a lot of left shot little guys. Looks like Conroy values size, speed and grit more than Treliving did and that's good. Treliving usually just picked the guy with the most points in his draft year who was still available regardless of positional needs, what league he got those points in or how small and soft he was.
