Why wouldn’t Boston keep swayman over ullmark? Younger and also played great for them last year.

Man that is one balanced roster. If they can score Swayman, look out. vintage early 2000 devils in bound.

I don't see why they would unless they're shortsightedly enamored by how Ullmark played this year

Why not just keep both? It's actually totally possible dependant on a few things. I literally just published a team doing just that.

Feel like they’d just trade/buyout Forbort and give that money to Swayman

Maybe they can, but money is tight. I’m asking for realistic asking prices, for either one of them.

I would say Schmid would need to go the other way then. They get a high potential replacement who could play this year. I think the base of the trade with be around him and then add after.

So you’re saying Schmid + 1st would be ballpark?

I don't know if it would be Schmid plus a first. I'm just saying I think Schmid would have to be the centre piece as Boston would want a young goalie with good potential that can place this year to replace him. I really don't know what the end value would be but I would think Schmid and a first would get it done. Maybe fans of either teams would have a better idea as I am not.

Also I think you might want to sign Swayman for more since I think Boston easily matches that salary and then would have no reason to trade him. I do feel a dollar amount about 4M would be a bit more difficult for them to navigate but not impossible.

Think they’d move Ullmark before swayman unless a drastic overpay occurred which devils likely wouldn’t do.

Devils salary cap is tight too, but they could find a way to get to 4M I’m sure. I just see this as the more realistic option. Schmid/1st is more palpable to me than the jets thinking they’ll get Holtz/Vitek/1st for Helle.

That's right, I forgot about some of the new acquisitions and their cap now. I honestly think Devils ride out their goaltending this year and see what they have.

Ullmark. has a M NTC. Unlikely any team on his trade list can take on his 5m cap.

I’m definitely inclined to agree that they will likely stick with Vitek and Schmid. I cannot see Helleybuck or Sarros being realistic given the proposed asks. If Swayman could be had for Schmid and a 1st I would definitely say it would be worth it though

Considering the age difference isn't much it would probably be worth it considering Swayman has already established himself as a good NHL starter.

Probably a great target for NJD. But, I predict BOS will be transitioning into a re-tool or re-build next summer or the following. They would probably be doing it right now if it weren't for the flat cap making the market so unappealing. In which case, I see Ullmark on the trade block before Swayman, depending on what offers are out there. Also, they could probably get more selling next summer rather than this summer, as long as they don't fall off too much in the coming season. They definitely need to find a way to re-stock/re-tool within the next couple years, or they'll be going down a slippery slope in a hurry.

For Sway, ideally either Mercer/Holtz, but thats obv an overpay and i assume theyre untouchable

maybe a package around Clarke/Stillman +?

No matter what happens that devils team is stacked

Yeah nobody currently penciled into the devils top 9 will be moved. Names that can be moved….Casey, Gritsyuk, Clarke, and Stillman

Lot of talk here about the 1st not being enough.

If the devils trade san Jose to get back their second it would cost what? Their third and next year's second?

With our 2nd back for the amount of money you are offering in that contract to Swayman after you get his rights you could probably just offer sheet Swayman, Samsonov, or Gustavsson.

Swayman would be the hardest to get. They might match and pray Frederic doesn't win much in arbitration. The Wild don't have that much and leafs have negative that much money. They have to make a trade already and having to match that offer sheet would put them in a very low leverage position.

I'm also not a fan of the 22 man roster but that is besides the point.

Firstly, SJ isn’t trading that pick back. It has a condition where it becomes a 1st if we make the ECF this year.

Secondly, why on earth would we want Samsonov?! He’s no upgrade on Vitek or Schmid.

Third, Minnesota has 8M in cap space what makes you think they don’t match an offer sheet?

Obviously it would just be for the conditions of the second.

If you feel Swaymanis a first round pick better than Samsonov then you are entitled to that. They are within 1% of each other on save percentage and win percentage. I guess he is 2 years older and saved 6 goals less above expected in the regular season?

I imagine your $8m number for Minnisota came from the home page here? That's for a 16 man roster I think.

I took the lines off daily faceoff, made an armchair GM team and put Merrill, Lettering, and Swaney as their scratches leaving goalie #2 empty. I signed their other RFA's to their QOs. This is conservative as Duhaime has an arbitration case. This assumes he outright loses.

Cap Space: $3,368,079

I guess they could get an extra ~$1M running a 22 man roster but that is still only halfway to $8M.

I could be wrong, but because Swayman is going to arbitration, pretty sure he can't sign an offer sheet.
