Murray refused to waive to Buffalo before the draft 2 years ago (before the Leafs got him). I do see him being a very good fit for Buffalo though. He actually played well for the Leafs when he was healthy. He just struggled to be healthy.

If Murray were to waive, I actually think this would be good for all 3 parties. Leafs get cap. Buffalo get Murray and 2 picks. Murray gets a shot to play on a very good team and help mentor Levi.

I didn't know about that thanks for telling me. I see this trade working out well for both sides if Murray were to waive his NTC and stay healthy enough to share the crease with Levi. He proved himself in Toronto as a solid goaltender and I see him as a guy who can mentor Levi.

Murrays career is far from over I think this year solidified that he can be a viable option in net barring any health issues.

Yes I believe it was going to be Ottawa 1st (7th overall) + Murray for the 16th overall from Buffalo. And Murray didn't waive. I believe that was trade (I don't think it was the 9th overall from Buffalo).

Ottawa then traded that 7th overall for Debrincat. Buffalo drafted Ostlund with the 16th overall. And then Ottawa traded Murray to Toronto along with a 3rd and 7th for futures.

You would have gotten the 7th overall pick along with Murray for the 16th - I believe that was the deal. Buffalo is fine for cap space. That would have been a win for Buffalo if the trade went through. Murray can play when healthy. He just can't stay healthy. You eat the money to upgrade from 16 to 7 any day of the week. (considering where Buffalo is cap wise).

I don't think that the third and fifth are close to sufficient, and the problem is enhanced by the fact that Toronto doesn't have a second anytime soon. Add in the Pergulas' parsimony, and I think this would be a tough sell.

We will see what happens with Murray. Some say traded, Some day bought out, Some say he is hurt and will be LTIR. 3rd + 5th is the minimum probably, I don't think it's that far off. 2nd would have been sufficient for sure.

Maybe top 15 protected 1st and Murray for 2nd round pick coming back? We will see.

I don’t know for 100% certainty but I know people within the organization.. they haven’t bought him out yet cause there’s injury concerns. I’ve heard he’s dealing with post concussion issues and possibly ankle issues again. Those aren’t injuries that go away over night

If that is true - Those people within the organization should be let go for disclosing this type of information, that hasn't been released publicly.

Lol. Teams have tons of inside information that doesn’t get released tor he public. The public doesn’t know half the stuff that goes on behind the scenes. That wouldn’t get them fired

If he can't stay healthy, he can't hold down a starting role. The greatest ability is availability. All awards and accolades are meaningless if you are riding pine.

Murray is an unreliable backup making starting goalie money. And I say unreliable because you know you have to carry a third goalie for when Murray goes down with injury.

The Sabres have placed an EXTREMELY HIGH emphasis on specifically “bringing in guys, who WANT to be here”
This obviously excludes Murray (based on last offseason)
But even if he’s had a change of heart,
i very highly doubt the Sabres would reconsider him- bc he could just as easily have another change of heart, especially if things aren’t going as planned for him here

I’d be shocked if the Sabres made a move to bring him in at this point

Murray is good when healthy. Problem is it doesn't happen often enough

But if you have 2 other goalies that can play, why not
