Calgary passes. There isn't the cap room to add Nylander given that they would need to fill 2 more roster spots. Moreover, the only reason they would acquire Nylander is if Lindholm is staying as his pivot (and presumably taking his 8.75MM deal). It would make the following year almost impossible to dress a full roster.

Cap is rising, and the Flames can trade Markstrom to a desperate team at the trade deadline. So it's possible.

JT walks into that line up and apart from Aho he is immediately their best forward. At 5.5 the Canes need to give back Pesce, a 1st and a prospect.

Tbh if we miss on karlsson i'd rather just keep Pesce and treat him as our own rental, or even try to re-sign him. He's cheaper than Brodie this year anyway.

Only by 4MM though, which is eaten up by Lindholm and Nylander. Calgary will let Coronato play before they trade him too. If he hits 50pts by year two, then we have our top 6 winger under cost control. I love Nylander, but just don't see a fit for a team this weak at center.
