Leafs should trade Lafferty and Timmins now which gives them 1.79m in cap to then go get Bear 1m x 1 year and pick some non QO guy to take a chance on or a vet guy

Shaw, Heinen, Bailey, Brassard, etc.

Honestly I have no clue either. But IF he is and I believe his contract is insured, I hope they can still trade him to a team looking to hit the cap floor.

Edit:

All of Mike Smith, Caery Price, Shea Weber played in the previous year only to hit LTIR the following year for their careers.

If I am the Senators...I would be calling the league about Matt Murray's fake injury.

Since a buyout would have meant cap savings to Ottawa, they have cause of action to being legal response.

Yeah, it's totally awesome when the league lets you cheat like a scoundrel. Right in front of everyone's faces and everything! Hooooooboy!!! We can't win on our own so maybe this illegitimate competition advantage will boost us over the top... of the second round.

Oh, are we pretending about this? Sorry, I didn't get the memo. So umm... no no no, of course there's nothing untoward about the Leafs, who are 7M over the cap, announcing that the 5M cap hit who was back to practicing with the team and ready to play a couple months ago will be placed on LTIR a couple months from now. Of course not!!! Who could even suggest such a wild theory???

Bruh. Be for real.

I mean would suggest looking at Murray's injury list and the fact he has not passed the 30 game mark 3 years in a row

We saw teams do far worse

VGK 2 years ago was doing way more LTIR shenanigans in order to bring in Eichel. Toronto putting a guy who suffered a concussion on LTIR and was deemed healthy enough to sit on a bench for an emergency really isnt that bad lul.

Nah. He'll write 3000 words on how this is actually a stinging blow for the Leafs.

Murray 2 months ago returned to the roster as an emergency goalie : “Feeling great. Happy to be back.”

Yet today he'd be eligible for LTIR for all 23-24 season

2 potential problems with TOR :

either they put a LTIR bound player on their roster, neglecting a player's health
or
cap circumvention

Per an emergency basis he may have just said im healthy enough to sit on the bench and mentor the kid but could not play. Cause if you suffer a concussion symptoms can reappear at any point

Mike Smith is an example of someone who played then went on LTIR a month later and wasnt seen again.

Cause think if Murray was healthy would he not have played the elimination game that he has a good record in through his career.

Was also blatant cap manipulation.

I do as Murray's concussion symptoms might have subsided enough for him to sit then reappeared in June during the first buyout window preventing the Leafs from doing anything. Then the Friedman report came followed by this rest is history. Either way he helped out Woll when he needed at the risk of his health what a guy.

Cause heres the thing about concussions the symptoms of a concussion can come and go. Some patients feel great after their initial recovery. Then a few days or weeks later, those symptoms return with ferocity. Fits the description of whats going on pretty well. Healthy this date but a few weeks later dont feel well again.

Either way its done hes not coming back and its for the best for his health and our cap

Mike Smith wasn't blatant cap manipulation, guy had been hurt a lot the past season and then failed his physical. Now with Murray, it definitely is a bit sketchy but one also has to wonder what does it take to go on LTIR, players during the playoffs and regular season have definitely played through worse injuries than some people who were LTIR bound.

I think it has something to do with concussion symptoms as that was his last injury.

As the problem with concussions they are so unpredictable

Go away come back. As the brain is complex and u **** that organ up man u boned.

Better to be safe than sorry. Like remember when Crosby got knocked out a whole year because of one man that was bad.

The problem will be if they tried to trade Murray before hand. The Blackhawks and Lightning weren't tried to trade their guys when they stashed them on LTIR.

If someone proves that TOR tried to trade Murray to offset the cap and were unable....that would make this entirely unlike CHI and TBL situations.
