A key part of the next "down time" is the health status on a few key players around the league (whether it is for cap purposes/roster building/etc):

G
Robin Lehner - Vegas
Matt Murray - Toronto

D
Aaron Ekblad - Florida
Brandon Montour - Florida
Tucker Poolman - Vancouver
Jake Muzzin - Toronto (assumed to be LTIR)
Ryan Ellis - Philadelphia (same; LTIR-retired?)

F
Matthew Tkachuk - Florida
Andrei Svechnikov - Carolina
Josh Norris - Ottawa
Connor Brown - Edmonton
Max Pacioretty - Washington
Jack Quinn - Buffalo
Tanner Pearson - Vancouver
Christian Dvorak - Montreal
Bobby Brink - Philadelphia
Gabe Landeskog - Colorado (out for 2023-24/possible LTIR-retire due to surgery risk)

Not injury related, but also monitoring the return of:
Elvis Merzlikins - Columbus Blue Jackets (several injuries last season then left due to grandmother's decline and death in Latvia) should be good to go but off-ice has taken a toll on him mentally the last few years (Matiss Kivlenieks death in 2021).
Spencer Knight - Florida Panthers
Alex Texier - Columbus Blue Jackets

If anyone has any updates as to confirmed progress/return to action please post it.

I think Montour & Ekblad start the season on LTIR for the Panthers. I think CHUCKY will be fine by season opener.

Respect to Bergeron and to a happy retirement.

Lastly, Florida extended Eetu Luostarinen to 2026-2027.

Good deal for the Cats

Murray is either bought out or LTIR'D but based on the evidence and cap implications each does I think LTIR is becoming a real possibility rn

As if u were just gonna buy him out why not do it the first time. Needed more time to try and move its been so quiet on that front nobody but those shady rumors on those sites say they been shopping him. Then u had the Friedman report citing the health concerns. Something's up

And no I dont think they buyout both Brodie and Murray lul

But yea sad to see a guy like Muzzin go out the way he did just to many unfortunate injuries

Disagree strongly, BUT they ought to give him his own reward for best two-way forward (and let the Selke go back to best defensive forward instead of what it became in the mid-90's and now goes to great two-way players).

Yeah I saw the news of that; just not sure what he is returning to since there is only 1 spot in the top 9 "up for grabs". Does he beat out Bemstrom, Chinakhov, and Foudy for 3rd line minutes? Maybe if Fantilli goes back to NCAA then there is a spot.

Is he a guy they would play on their 4th line? I've always like Texier but he doesn't strike me as someone that would do well in that deployment; especially with Kuraly-Luoto-Robinson-Danforth-Olivier-McKown-Pyyhtiä also competing for those spots.

Texier seems like a perfect "new environment" type of move that should probably happen soon.

I'd definitely play him over Bemstrom and Foudy. If he is on the block, I'd like the Leafs to give Jarmo a call

When you think things can’t possibly get worse for Chicago sports, it somehow goes even lower

From Wikipedia: “The report also states that Wirtz was not aware of the allegations at the time.”

You think that’s bad? Rocky Wirtz has set a pretty low bar for his successor

Anything under 10 (for your stars) with the cap raising is going to become a steal.

I swear, this place sometimes...

- I relay the take from prospect pundits about a young player on another fan's team = I am underrating him! And I don't understand how legendary he will be, just like the great (insert some great player who is nothing like the prospect in question here).

- I relay the take from prospect pundits about a young player on my team = HOMER GLASSES!!! THAT GUY'S NOTHING BUT A GLORIFIED 3RD LINER!!!

Gotcha.
